How to move 3 models together
« on: April 10, 2016, 08:38:14 AM »
I have created a 3 strand 5 point star models. I have created a group for the 3 strand star. I have it setup how I won't the star to be laid out. Now I am trying to select all 3 strands/stars and move them to the right to center them with my tree. I hold the (Ctrl) key and select all 3 strands/stars but when I try to drag or press the right arrow, it goes from 3 selected stars to 1 selected star and starts to just move 1 star. How can I move all 3 together?

I don't believe it's possible to move more than one model at a time. That would be a nice feature though.

You could move the largest in place. Then select all 3, right click on the one that's in the correct position and select align, horizontal or vertical center. That might do the trick.

Yes You can move all three at the same time.  As you select each with the ctrl key on the last line (model) do NOT let it go. Just move it and the others will follow. I had the same issue. I wanted to select them all then go back to move them.

Not sure if you know about this but the star model will actually let you create a star with concentric layers. This way you wouldn't have to have 3 separate models for your star. You can even still access the individual stars within it when applying effects. The key is to set the Layer Sizes. Take a look at the pics I have attached below. The are for my star that has 3 layers to it. The total star has 90 lights. The outside star has 40 nodes. The middle star has 30 nodes and the inner star has 20 nodes. I'm not sure which version you're using so I attached images from the old model settings as well as the new model settings. Use whichever one matches your version.

I did not know about the Layer option. I have the latest Xlights software. Thanks for the information on the layers setup. That is a good one to know.
