Title: Channel Numbers
Post by: ed26105 on April 28, 2015, 11:49:27 AM
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep track of xlights channel numbers which run sequentially vs universe channels which run 1-510.  Attached is part of my set up.  I an running 10 pixels on each spindle around my porch.  Physically, they can't all run off the same controller.  And to keep the fabricated props manageable, there are 13 total.  The total number in each group is either 50, 60 or 70 due to layout.  Is there any simple system to matching up the xlights mapping, ie channels 14764 to 15273 for universe 23 to the channels 151, 361 etc?  I know the math is simple if put on a spread sheet, but any ideas are appreciated.  See the info attached.

One thing I still want to do for 4.x is "enhance" the "Start Channel" entry fields in the Model Dialog to allow a "Output:Offset" format instead of a raw channel number.   Thus, you could use 4:1 to be the 4th output on the setup tab, first channel.   When we load the model, that would automatically get converted to whatever channel number that end up being.   If there is no ":" in the number, it would be an offset from output 1 so completely compatible with what we have right now.   Would certainly help *me* be more organized.
