Title: Tutorial for importing Singing Tree and 12CCR sequences...
Post by: dkulp on May 03, 2015, 07:58:32 PM

I created a new video of some stuff I've worked on this weekend to enhance the ability to import effects from LOR generated sequences.  In particular, my goal is to make it possible to take sequences purchased from the various vendors (I bought several really good sequences from holidaysequences.com) and pull them into xLights and be able to edit them.  Anyway, this is stuff that should be available in 4.0.29.

Hi Dan.
At 4:27mins you bring up the mapping menu. How do I get that as nothing shows on my conversions.
Cheers Dennis

Are you importing an LMS file?  If it's a SuperStar file you don't get the mapping menu.

Yes I just found out I bought the SuperStar tree sequence only and not the combined with faces so it makes sense now. Cheers.

I have been able to get the Super Star sequence to save and run, after a crash while saving and then a restart.
Now I have just lms files of singing faces. When I render all the menus get grayed out and naught happens.
I tried just doing one face and render - same deal. ctl-alt-del as no error appears.

If the menus stay greyed out it means the render got hung in one of the threads.  Dan designed the multi-threading so he's the best one to fix these types of issues but the problem is usually these things aren't happening on the Mac platform so it's not easy for him to reproduce.  I've tried to dig into this a couple times and the CodeBlocks software usually either locks up or doesn't show me how it got into that state when I try to break into it using the debugger.

Thanks Gil. So is it a terminal failure or just random and one should try, try, try again??

You have to terminate the program to recover.  Whether it continues to happen every time is something you can easily try and tell us the results.

It has happened all of the 5 - 6 times I have attempted this conversion.

Yeah we know it's happening when you do the conversion but once you hit Save you shouldn't need to redo the conversion again.  You will already have an XML with all the imported effects.  So at that point its more of does it hang when you try to open and Save that XML every time.  It may sound strange to say open it and Save but what's occuring is you are opening the XML but the save is creating the fseq file.

Attached is a crash report.
Tried one lms file and would not render.
Tried a different lms file and it rendered one singing tree. Added second tree and it did not render.

OK progress .... I think.
I believe the first lms may have an issue.
What i have found with the second one is that you need to map ALL selected models or delete them if you are not going to attach lms mapping.
Rendering is OK when all models are mapped.
Trust this helps.

Mmmmm. I went into my saved and working xml and attempted to remap one of the two models and it has frozen again.
Rebooted and now the saved/working xml is corrupted and will not open.
Time to go to work. Will progress more tonight I hope.
