I made a lot of custom Favorites in the previous version of xlights/nutcracker. Will there be a Favorites function in NC 4.xx like there was in V3.0..?

I really hope the Favorites comes back as well.
For the time being I copied them out of my xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and added a few to the xlights_keybindings.XML and now they're just one keystroke away.
+1 For the return of presets... please.

I never saw them before so I've never used them. Any ideas where we would provide an interface to save and choose them? We are already getting quite cluttered with side windows.

LOL. I just had to open up V3 as well to figure out what he was talking about. :-) Never even saw the "Effect Presets" stuff.
My "Thoughts" would be on the Effects panel, Shift the "Update" button (or remove it) to the right an put two things: A drop down with all the current "Presets" that they could chose from and a button next to it to bring up the dialog to allow managing the list.
Same for the palettes. On the color panel, shift the colors all the way to the left and add a drop down of saved palettes and a button to manage them.

Actually, here's an even more interesting idea:
Only add a "Add Preset" button on the panel to add the current effect settings as a preset. Then add a new "Preset" effect type that would allow selecting the preset to use. During rendering, we would grab the current values for the preset and use them. Thus, if you "update" or change the preset, every place it's used would automatically change. Just a thought.

Speaking of palettes if you didn't notice SuperStar was supporting up to 8 colors so I'm having to throw away 2 colors for the Fan, Spiral, and Shockwave imports.

Here is one way. Make the Presets an effect. Once selected, the Presets box opens up. Apply, New, Update, Groups, etc are all contained in that box, just as if it were an effect.
Not sure how easy it would be to select select existing XL4 effects to add to a new effect.
Note the PRE effect after Pinwheel.
