Title: Rainbow Arches
Post by: mararunr on June 16, 2015, 09:11:31 PM
Using XL4 to do a little Rainbow Arches testing tonight (and a little 7 node Ray Wu strobe action - finally solved my frustration with Ray Wu strobe nodes - bundle 'em in 7 and they are pretty bright).

Did you see the picture...if so, click on picture and video will start playing.

Let me know if you did NOT see picture and I will find somewhere else to post (and I do appreciate the heads up).  Also if you are on some of the Facebook groups, I have posted the video there.

I really like the way you grouped the arches into a "mega arch" so to speak.   That looks really cool.

HDPE. I bought a 100ft roll from McMaster Carr that I'm probably not going to use after all. If you are interested let me know. It's too big to ship, so pick up only. I live in Southeast Alabama.

I'm in Dothan.  Here is what I purchased:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#50375k64/=xpha3s (http://www.mcmaster.com/#50375k64/=xpha3s)
It looks like the price is the same as what I paid, $1.89 a foot.  I would like to get that, I would obviously eat the shipping/freight I paid.

It's still rolled and shrink wrapped.

About how large is the roll and a guess on the weight?

Thanks

It's about 5' in diameter, the roll is approximately 8" high. The weight is a guess, maybe 40lbs. It was delivered freight because of the unusual size, not weight. It should fit in most pickup trucks and I would assume a minivan if at an angle.

That may work  as I would only need 50' of the roll

I'm using this same tubing for my arches this year.  I too ordered it from McMaster-Carr.  I asked for a quote for shipping purposes, which came back at $8.  I thought why not for that price.  Imagine my surprise when I see the actual invoice of $76 for shipping alone!  And I only ordered 30 feet of the tubing and it was coiled up about 6' in diameter for me.

I got hold of McMaster today, and they told me $18.00 to ship 2 25' pieces and 4 10' pieces. I questioned she on the amount and asked her to give me a firm amount on Monday  before they ship.   we shall see.

Hi  Phrog30,

Thanks for the size info.

I have a relative that lives on lake martin, if I can't work a deal out with McMaster then I may have my relative step in if you still have it and come pick it up.

If you have that $18 dollars in writing, then they should honor it.  In the end I paid $10 for shipping since I questioned the charges after they told me one amount and charged me another.

Weird on the shipping. The invoice for shipping always comes after the purchase.  It took a few days to get a shipping invoice. Several others have had the save experience. It's quite different when it's freight vs parcel.

Absolutely love lake Martin, one of the best lakes around.
