Title: Sequencing From 2 Different Computers --- Is it possible?
Post by: djohnson1810 on June 23, 2015, 09:26:46 AM
I end up having to work on my sequences in two places.  One on my laptop when I am not home, and two on my desktop when I am home.  I was trying to setup xlights so I can transition easily from one computer to the other by storing my work on Google Drive.  I also tried copying the files from C:\Program Files (x86)\xLights from my laptop to the desktop to hopefully transfer any necessary files needed.  It can't seem to find my models.

Does anyone else do this?  Is there an easy way to work on this from two different computers?

Maybe I should try installing the whole program on Google Drive?

It's the files in your Show folder that duplicate your setup.  Did you copy all the XML files like xlights_rgbeffects.xml, xlights_networks.xml, xlights_keybindings.xml?

I have both the show directory and the media directory set to my Google Drive.  I am using v4.1.7 on both my laptop and my desktop.  It works fine on my laptop but I can't get it to open the models on the desktop.  I have attached some screen shots that might help.  The last one shows the problem.

On the computer that's not working open up the xlights_rgbeffects.xml and see what models are listed.  Does it contain "Spotlight 5"?   I see you have an xlights_rgbeffects(1).xml.  Maybe you tried to copy it over and it didn't really overwrite the other file.   Maybe you need to delete the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and then rename the other one to remove the "(1)" from the name.
