Hi,
I added several models last week while running 4.1.4. I just updated the software to 4.1.10 this morning, and those models now don't show up in the Layout tab. They are not shown in the main part of the window, and they are not in the list under "Preview Models:".
If I bring up the models dialog, all those models are there, and the "Part of my display" box is checked.
If I open an existing sequence that contained those models, they are still there also.
How do I get those to come back to the Layout tab?

The layout only shows models in the active model group now. So you must have a model group active that doesn't contain those models. Click the models group button and either add them to a group or you can unselect all model groups and then it will display every model that has the Part of my Display box checked. I think I need a sticky for this answer.

So as a general rule, if you are using model groups, then you should have all of your models added to at least 1 group?

Yeah maybe we should start creating sticky posts for common issues that arise. We should probably create a new one for this titled something like "Why can't I see my models on the Layout tab?".
Martin regarding your question it's up to you. I mainly only create groups for things I want to be sequenceable. If you want to see everything just uncheck all the groups.
I guess one thing we might have a shortfall on is how we handle the models that are not Part of my Display. I don't think we provide a way to display them right now.
