Title: Can't get the effect to go away
Post by: bpducman on July 31, 2015, 05:20:44 PM
Hi all,

So I have 2 aches that are ac channels. When I look at the sequencer at the particular timing mark there is nothing. If I touch that mark nothing appears in the Model or the House preview. When I go to layout and play the sequencer the effects show up. I can remove that model from my sequence and save the sequence and it does not show up but once I put that model back into being a part of my display sure enough the effect comes back.

Should I delete the fseq file and rebuild the sequence from the xml file?

Always like to ask before I start deleting stuff.

Thanks
Brad

well I have tried to delete the fseq and rebuild from the xml file but now the program is crashing and will not allow the rebuild.

Deleting the fseq has nothing to do with it crashing so it has to be something else like maybe the deletion or renaming of a model.

I did have to go thru and fix some number issues. How do I have it start clean again.

If you attach your xlights_rgbeffects.xml and the sequence xml I'll try to reproduce the crash.

In dmx, if I am using a lor controller and the mapping numbers are 15331-15346   should I be telling 15331 as out put 1,  15332 as out put 2, 15333 as out put 3 and so on ?? or should all of them be output 1?
I am pretty certain this is where I have messed up

I have done this to myself. I had to change some of the numbers on certain models and some models went from norm lor controllers to dmx. I have basically screwed this thing up. Just don't know the best way to go forward without going backwards. 33 universes and sinking fast.

I hate it when this happens

I'm not sure what outputs you are talking about.  I just define a bunch of universes in setup and then assign a start channel to each model.

Hi Gil

Here are the files you requested along with my excel layout.

I sure appreciate your help

Brad

When I open the xml and make no changes or make some changes and  try and save it,  then it crashes.

Look at the bottom of the excel file and you will see the dmx info. Pretty sure this is where my screw up is.

Hi Gil,

Just to give U some more info. During this changing of numbers and going to some dmx I had a whole house model. After making some group models the other day the whole House model was eliminated and replaced with a couple of group models. If you look at the sequence in one area you will see some white that really looks out of place that is remaining parts of the whole house. Just wanted to give you this.

Thanks
Brad

Gil  could u spend a sec and look at the excel spread sheet and in particular the dmx at the bottom.

Am I numbering this correctly?

Thanks
Brad

sometimes this is saving just fine and other times it is not

As long as you defined enough channels to cover the models there's no way it has anything to do with a crash.  There is no restriction about overlapping channels.  You can map multiple objects to the same channels.

Hello Mr Girock,

I think I have found the issue with the crashes and made the chances and not crashing any more.

But I have renamed 20 of the models and the system is still trying to find 10 of them. Everything is working it just keeps telling me it can't find these models even though it is running them under the new name.

What can I do to resolve this?

Brad

All the model names exist either in the sequence xml or the xlights_rgbeffects.xml.  If you know how to use a text editor you could fix them up.
