Good deal.   What did you order?   The flex strips are always real fast.

I sent him $800 for some WS2811 LEDs and power supplies on 3/27. As of 4/15, still no love.

Although it did take some time to put my order together, he did customize my strips, here is the tracking of my order once it got rolling.

I have begun my product testing. I allays put all his product through at least a week of continuous burn in to test for infant failures.

The early results for the flex strips is not looking as good as in the past. I will update once testing completes.

Sadly I share the same outcome with the flex strips. I've had three individual lights and about 6 1/2 or so strips stop working. Some touch up solder seems to be fixing the 1/2 strips for me so far. This is very disappointing as I just got 25 strips for my matrix. Anyways finish your testing and let us all know the results. I'll be continuing my testing and fixing this upcoming weekend.

I do need to add though that Ray is going to ship me a couple of extra rolls for my troubles - hoping I get them by the weekend - but if it's even a week or so down the road I'm not too fussed.  I  using dhl to ship....usually works the best for me to canada.

I just got a bill from FedEx for my RayWu lights order.

"Duties, Tax, Customs, Fees, other"  for 17.42

Has anyone else received a bill for their lights?

Twice, on large orders. It is import taxes/duties that were underpayed by Ray.

For those who paid tariffs , what country are you in and what was the total on your printed invoices?   I've never paid but invoice totals were always under the threshold no-tarriff amount and always used DHL.  Note: the invoice amounts are often lower than what you actually paid.   I believe it is the wholesale cost or otherwise different.

Just returned from the Expo in Fort Worth.  Lots of work to be done.  For starters, can someone please post the Ray Wu link for the tm1809 flex strips

Thank you,

There are a lot of different lengths and pixel densities for every chip type so this is just one option:

Gilrock,

Also, why does the strip have two different type connectors?

Mr.Christmas/Gilrock,

Sean had posted somewhere that he used 4m weatherproofed 1809's 12v, 30 led per meter.  I like that spacing and the individual control over each led.  Just trying to find that particular one.

That is exactly what this one is: 4m waterproof LED digital strip by tube, the other one is just 5m instead of 4m. same 30leds/m. They both use the 1809 chip for control of each individual RGB led.

The 4m one is the first one presented as compatible with pixelnet then the product line expanded and added the 5m version.

BTW most IP68 1809 strips do not come with connectors.

The ones I've always ordered are a direct link from the DLA Wiki for smart strings.
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/4m-waterproof-LED-digital-strip-by-tube-DC12V-input-without-controller-10pcs-TM1809IC-m-30pcs-5050/701799_425556741.html

This is for 4meters, the max length supported by DLA, but I would just ask Ray to make them 5 meters and shortened them as needed.

If you want custom lengths and pigtails, I've found him to be willing and the extra cost is probably less than your own time.

The '5m TM1809 dream color strip' is the same product just 5 meters and an off the shelf unit.

They fit my 16ft long grid with 3 pixels to spare. Same 1809 chip as the 4 meter one.

Ray even added 3m leadin no charge.
