Title: Brians Deck the Halls swirls
Post by: bpducman on August 18, 2015, 05:58:21 PM
Mr Gilrock,

Have you tried importing Brians Deck the halls CCR tree. and get the swirls to come in??

They sort of come in. I guess this is one of the Super Star issues?

I don't own that sequence.  I wouldn't call it an issue.  We can't exactly duplicate how an effect works in another program.  For one the way we define our effect durations is a different scheme than Superstar.  I made effects that are very similar but they aren't perfect matches so sometimes the imported sequences aren't going to do the exact same thing without some tweaking.

I guess I could call it a "thing" or maybe a "duplication content supplication request" not issue. :o I do understand what you are saying. After you made the adjustments a while back on the CCR imports more of the swirl effects come thru. I know you have nothing to do, if you want I can send you the sup so you can look at if you would like.

I can work around it.

Thanks
Brad

If you want to PM me the file I'll take a look.  But the effects I use for the import are now out there and being used in everyone's sequences so I got to be careful.  I can't just modify how those effects work and change people's sequences unless we decide it's a change that needs to be made.

I did not see a way to attach a file in PM

Upload it to dropbox (or something similar) and then send Gil a PM with the link to access it

Not really a way to do much about those differences I see other than manually tweaking the effects that look different.  Some of those effects have really short durations like 200ms for the head and that is only 4 frames any slight differences in position calculations is really going to show up more than an effect that lasts longer.  We do our positions in percentages not exact pixel locations which allows us to scale.  My acceleration isn't the same.

You're best bet is to convert the .sup file to .lms and then import it as a data layer.  It will render 1000 times faster and you probably weren't going to be tweaking those several thousand effects anyways.

Did you have a, or was there a video on the data layer import?

Hello,
In the Wiki, there are tutorials under the Importing into xLights (covering data layers, Lor imports and SUP imports separately). Link as:
