Title: Faces not moving?
Post by: colonelcline on August 24, 2015, 12:04:02 PM
I cannot get any animation out of the Faces on new props. My v3 props that have faces work but the new ones just stare at me. I've tried every setting and style. Just a stare in Model and House Preview.

I know you know what type of models you've created and what type of effects you are trying to drop onto them but you're kinda leaving us guessing.

In 3.x I had my 360 Tree models "singing" to Boogie Christmas using the Faces effect. The mouth and the eyes move to the beat. As I recall AI and etc was what I used. I've added 2 more tree models 270's and am trying to get them to "sing" as well. But they do not. I see a drop down box with Default in it and another for Timing but it is blank when selected.  My 3.x models do "sing" in House Preview, v4 does not in House or Model. Screenshot attached if that helps.

I think we need to see what the Faces effect settings are.  Is there a papagayo.xml file that drives this?

No, never used it. This is the Faces in the Sequencer tab.

Well I really don't know anything about it then.  You must have been using one of the auto faces or something.

xlights 3.x had three types of papgayo output
1) Autofaces. These create a face on a megatree or matrix. No further setup needed
2) Corofaces. You had to define the 10 phonemes and list the channels to be turned on.
3) PictureFaces. You provided 10 image files (Like a snowman) each with a different mouth shape.

The recent work on Integrating Papagayo saw
Dan Kulp implement (2), Corofaces
Gil implemented (3), Picture faces.

No one has re-implemented Faces.

If you still need this, you would need to use the Papagayo tab, import in a Papagayo file *.pgo, and create an xml file. This file si xlights 3.x. Open that file and it is converted.

So we have 2 out of the 3 singing faces implemented. The most used are done. I bet 75% are corofaces (2), 20% were picture faces, maybe 5% were the faces effect.

OK, thanks for the answer. I only use the picture faces for something like boogie woogie Christmas and I think there was one other, so no big deal. I can do something else. Maybe remove the Face Picture until it is implemented? Save some of us some time? :)

I just started this years programming updates and I am impressed with what you guys have done. Good jb.

No... It's still there.  There should be a "Rendered" option on the faces effect which is the old rendered face.

Yeah Dan did the Picture faces work also not me.  The part I did was getting the Lyrics import, phrase and word breakdown, all the timing track display stuff for Papagayo, and incorporating the Carnegie Melon dictionary stuff.  This was all possible after Dan added the ability to display the words on the timing effects.

Edit: Unless you were talking about me adding the ability to draw faces using the Pictures effect.
