I either missed this lesson or the function does not exist. I am trying go back and clean up the model groups and views that I created since earlier this year while playing with various releases. I see how to edit a model group, but how do I edit / delete a view. I have views that reference models that no longer exist and I need to clean them up. I realize I can probably brute force it using notepad++ on the rgb_effects file. but if there is a better way I'd like to learn that.
The search function here is miserable. Try searching on "edit view" or " view edit". Also if you click on the wiki it does not spawn a new window/tab automatically and you must right click on the wiki and select open in a new tab in order to keep it open while you also have a sequence open. Otherwise there is no way to go back and forth between functional areas.

While working under the sequencer tab, right click on a model/timing track and select edit display elements. Highlight a view you want to edit or delete and click the corresponding buttons on screen.

Hello Jim,
there is a section in the manual on Views. Around page 52 (I am looking at the in flight version) there is an image showing Add View and Delete view. i did not explicitly document that by Clicking on the Add button .. or Delete button ... as I thought that the image would have been enough.
Let me know if u think that it needs to be documented better.
We have just started working on the Wiki and hopefully in a couple of weeks that will be in better shape. It is quite slow going to put the same info there..

So I looked at the views in one sequence and deleted all my old/bad stuff. Are the views universal over all sequences or do they only apply to one sequence? It sure seems like we need to quit hiding key elements of the program in hidden right click menus. I had done the right click before I posted, but the words edit display elements did not equate to edit views in my mind. Maybe a little clarity in the pop up wording would also help.

It doesn't matter where we put things people still don't always find everything. It's like a dictionary. It doesn't really help you spell the word unless you already know the first letter. You gotta hang out with us and learn the secret handshakes. :)

The views are universal , except for the Master view which is specific to the sequence.
If you add a model to or remove a model from a view , it will remain (provided you save when exiting and not ignore the save message).
It will also add the model to the master view automatically if you have a seq open .
With the edit display elements tab , you can then do a number of things pertaining to Models, Timings AND Views
This has grown as more and more functionality has been added in the last few weeks
Much like in Word where when you right click on an open document , you get a list of options (pertaining to editing) and some options in turn have sub menus as functionality grows..

I guess we can have 37 side panels.
