Title: Setup starting corner
Post by: bigbubba on September 08, 2015, 11:26:52 AM
I will have my Falcon16v2 set up in the center of my display with props set up to the left and right of it. I assume I need the items on the right of the controller with a bottom left starting corner and the item on the left with a bottom right starting corner. Have I assumed correctly?

No its not really where the controller is located but where on the model does channel 1 start.

I had this exact same question when I started planning my first display and using xLights 4.  It was explained to me that you would set up your models in xLights for sequencing, then in the controller you would reverse the channel order for the lights going to the one side of the display.

Don't over think this, it's really simple.

Create the models in xLights exactly how you will physically build the model. If you have a string of lights and you plug node #1 into the upper left corner of your mega-thingy, then xLights should have the mega-thingy defined as starting in the upper left corner.   All models are controller independent. I'm switching controllers this year and no configuration changes will be done to my models other that perhaps new channel assignments.

A common issue is scrolling text is backwards. That is always because the pixels are plugged in backwards from the way the model was defined.

To add to the above,
if you are defining a model for P10 panels, define the model as a horizontal matrix and starting at the top left hand corner - irrespective of where your physical connection cable into the panels is.

This is used as reference when the FP looks at your actual configuration  and swaps things around.
