Title: LOR to xLights conversion issue
Post by: jem5136 on September 20, 2015, 08:16:24 AM
Hello everyone,

I have both incandescent lights and RGB lights in a show I'm sequencing, and I thought I would use LOR to sequence the incans and convert it over to xLights where I will sequence the RGB. My thought was I would be able to keep the LOR effects and they would show up on the grid in xLights and the incan channels will show up in my xLighs layout (I have them mapped out on my layout).

Here is the problem I'm having, I convert the LOR sequence and open it in xLights and all I have are timings, I don't see any sequencing nor do I get any effects playing when I play the sequence. What am I doing wrong? Will i have to change the way I'm sequencing?

Hello,
I think you will need to post some more info as to how many incans, how you have defined tour xl setup tab, attacking it as a scren print would be great, and what process you used to import/ convert.

Did you click on render all before playing the sequence ?

I'd suggest looking at the user manual or some tutorial videos.  You just tried to jump in and guess about how things work.  Doesn't sound like you added any of the models to the sequence.  Adding models to the layout doesn't automatically put them in every sequence.  We allow you to choose which models you want in the sequence.  Most people end up creating a View that contains all their models so then you just select that View in the drop down and it automatically will add all the models from that view into the open sequence.  You don't have to really change how you sequence you just need to learn how to operate a different sequence.

I have 9 controllers (144 channels) worth of LOR I'm trying to import. I have LOR set up as the first 144 channels in my setup (see the attachment). And I'm trying to use the "Convert" tab to convert my sequence from .lms to .xseq. You can see what I get when I try to convert the sequence (pretty much nothing more than an audio source). I was getting timing marks earlier but the last few times I tried converting it, I haven't gotten anything. (another attachment to show what I mean) And yes, I have tried rendering everything before and after playing the sequences.

I have watched quite a few tutorials, this isn't the first time I've used xLights (I used it in the past to run my shows, but this is the first year I'm using it to sequence). I have all the models laid out and ready to go in my layout (see attachment). I can sequence all the RGB without a problem when I'm not sequencing the incandescent lights. I'm stuck and don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I don't know much about the LOR convert process , however ,

Do you not have to add the models that you are importing against ie the 144 channels to the sequencer grid ?

If yes , then to do so , Right click on the left column of the grid , Select Edit Display Elements , then add the models,

If not , then someone else will have to respond.

You can create timing marks either manually or having xL generate beats / bars etc .

I see that you are using an fseq , so you must have saved after doing the import ?

There's no difference between sequencing RGB or incandescent models...it will look the same on the grid.  You said you can sequence the RGB without a problem.  How are you doing that when you have no models in the sequence tab?  You have all the models on the layout but like I said earlier you need to add them to the sequence.  You need to lookup how to add a timing row and how to add models using the Display Elements dialog.

Let me know if this is garbage from a spammer or something worth looking at. :)

Ok it looked strange being a first post and no text to go with the link.  I couldn't view it right now from work anyway.

When you made your models in xlights did you match the exact channels that you have in Lor? If they are not exact channel numbers you won't see anything

That video actually explained everything I needed. I never thought about starting a new sequence and importing everything from LOR, I was trying to convert the sequence then add to it in xLights.
