I have spent the entire day trying get a sequence to import and have had no success. I have watched many of the videos in the wiki and followed along and still don't get it. The channels never match up even when I import the effect and do the mapping screen they do not match the LOR sequence. I really want to cut the LOR cord but don't know what else to do. I spent an hour renumbering an LOR channel config putting it on a DMX universe 1-110. When I attempted to convert the new setup, NC just crashes. My LOR sequences were built up over about 6years and the different layers may be the issue I just dont know what else to try. Sorry venting little bit.

Do you have your models in Xlights set up?
-
yes I have models, and have followed the steps in the videos from the Wiki. The issue I have found even after I mapped out the sequence in the add effects section, there are random effects in the NC playback that are not in the LOR playback. I have been through my models and made sure they are in the proper positions and that there are no conflicts. All of my mirrored effects are only entered once and the "copy" just uses the same channels. It is just a slow process and I believe its from patching and changing my original LOR sequences over the years is why I just cant convert.

Jim,
I use data layer approach for bringing in my LOR sequences. I do not want to edit my LOR effects in XL so this should allow for a clean import. Are you using that or are you using the import feature? The data layer method does show the status of the import and any errors you may have. Others also use the 'convert' tab, which I used last year but no longer am using it.

Where is the like button!!
Yes if your lor stuff is is the way you want it then plain and simple use the data layers import, if you have no need to to tweak the sequence then don't try any other method.

For me, I'm still tweaking some things in my LOR sequences. Since I import them as a Data Layer, it is very simple to update.
Edit your LOR file. Save so that the LMS file is up to date.
Open your Nutcracker file. Go to Settings, Sequence Settings, then to the Data Layer tab. Go the LMS data layer (usually the second +) and then Re-Import. Then click Done.
Once you Save, the new updated ISEQ file is merged with the FSEQ file and your changes are there.
This whole process takes just a minute or so.

agree - works like a charm and no issues

I will try the data layer method.

I tried a data layer Import and got the random mash up of channels flashing. The only way I have gotten anything close it to create a sequence then Import the effects. I am not exaggerating when I said I spent hours doing this yesterday. I know its got to be something to do with my LOR files them selves because too many people can do it, without the problems I am having.

Show a screenshot of your setup page.

here it is

Ok that seems fine. I mainly wanted to make sure you weren't using the one big single channel feature cause we found a bug with that today.
The other usual problems folks have is not defining all the channels in LOR so when we import them the other channels get squished into the wrong positions. Before you do the import switch to the Convert tab because it will print out messages there. If can screenshot that page after it converts. But I gotta think it's either you don't have the models mapped to the right channels so they aren't matching your LOR setup or you have unmapped channels in LOR. Do you check any of the boxes on the LOR import options?
One trick is create a new show directory and create a one big matrix with all your channels. Then when you import you can play the sequence and see where channels are firing on the matrix and that might clue you in to where a channel might be importing into the wrong spot. Make sure you render after the import.

Ok will do . I found one issue I was having with random flashes. The sequence I was working on had custom timing where some of the set timing blocks have been subdivided. Even cut and pasting it to a new set LOR grid nothing would line up because its just pasting blocks not the subdivisions......
-
here is the screen shot and a shot of the LOR with the subdivided timings

bump?any thoughts....

I couldn't figure out how to zoom the picture inside that word document. Is there a tutorial video somewhere? :)
Are you trying to import data that had a finer resolution in LOR than the sequence you created in xLights? If you have 10ms divisions in LOR then it's not going to work importing into 50ms divisions in xLights.
-
FYI, zoomed all of the way in, I can't read anything.
-
I will try this another way. I can copy my sequence when I create a new sequence, and use the import tab and apply the map of the channels I made from my LOR layout. This would be fine but I am getting some random ON channels in the transfer. I can't edit the newly created sequence ( I am guessing because its a data layer ?) and not a converted sequence. When NC converts a LOR sequence how does it see the channel order. In LOR the first network is 5 16 channel A/C controllers. (1-16 for the 5 controllers). The second network is 30 DMX channels for 10 dumb 3 channel trees. Is it order of the models or by number? . when ever I attempt a conversion I am just getting random flashing on my models that are numbered by channel. Or should my models be numbered by the order they appear in the LOR secquencer or just be in the same order and the channel number doesn't matter?
-
I really don't know how the LOR channels get assigned but I can tell you how to figure it out yourself. Create a LOR sequence that ONLY has data on one channel at the beginning of a model and then see where the heck that shows up in xlights. I already suggested the big matrix idea. I've given you enough info that you could have figured this all out with a little troubleshooting instead of waiting till we have time to figure out your channel order for you.

Jim if you are using Win 7 you can take screen shots by clicking start, then put snipping tool in the search box. Drag your mouse around the area you want to capture and you will capture what is in the window. You can not alter the box so get it right when you do the drag or just keep starting over without saving by clicking the new button.

If I get a chance over the weekend I'm going to see if there's a way we could print out more information during the LOR conversion process that would show you how everything ends up being mapped. That should help people out since I've seen a lot of struggle in this area.
-
sorry to be so thick about this. I have been reading and attempting to get this done myself and have not been successful with a clean conversion.
-
Ok so I did a 16 channel test. I cut and pasted a 16 channel track. created a new sequence and it appeared to want to display the first 16 channels not the model I have selected.
-
Hopefully this will help...next version I added a checkbox on the Convert tab so you can import the LMS file and see how the LOR channel names map to the xLights channel numbers.

Thank you. I have had some measure of success with the Import Effects. I went back into LOR and rearranged my sequences # 1-108 in one DMX universe and saved the channel config. I then went through my MC models re-numbered them 1-108. I then followed the wiki for importing effects. I have two sequences migrated to NC. I still cant get conversion to work right, When I tried with my newly configured LOR sequence NC crashed. here is the crash file attached.
