Title: New to pixels
Post by: bigstott on May 31, 2014, 09:09:31 AM
Hello All Since I am new to using pixels I was wondering if anyone had a sequence that they wouldn't mind sharing. I am struggling a little with getting my elements in X lights to work correctly and preview correctly. I am one of those people that if I can see it completed once then I a good the rest of the way. Anything at this point would be cool. Let me know! Thanks all!

I have some I could share, but if you describe in very general terms how you plan to display/setup your pixels (type of models and dimensions), I can tailor it a bit.

Ok well below are the elements I want to put up and have all of the parts to make. Bear in mind I have 2 Pixlite 16's and 8 other 1 full universe DMX controllers so I should be good with controllers for now. Also I am being pretty optimistic I can get all of these elements up and running in tome fore this season.

4 small arches at 12ft each 2811 30ic/m strips lines up side by side
4 big arches  over the driveway with 30ft 2811 strips each one behind another.
5 windows with a full 5m 2811 strips.
8 Holiday Coro flood kits with 20 dumb rectangles each.
6 holiday Coro mini trees with 20 rectangle rgb each
4 Holiday Coro candy canes with 32 rgb rectangle nodes each
1 Bethlehem star with 110 2811 smart pixel nodes
2 repurposed spiral trees with 2811 pixel nodes ?? on quantity of pixels per tree I haven't measured the length yet.

Bigstott--welcome to the world of pixels.  You won't be sorry you jumped in; they are SOOO capable.  I am adding a small Bethlehem to my display this year (about 4' tall, modeled after the Holdman star on the Holdmans' website) using static incans this year.  I may add it to my sequences in 2015 so I will wire up the lights so I could do a few things with the star.  I may in time make it an RGB star, but this is only my 2nd year, so I am still moving somewhat slowly with respect to adding items to my display!
