Hi everyone get ready for lots of Newbie questions from me.
-
Just signed on but have been using nutcracker form the start

Hello All, good to be here.

Sean, I think now that you have your own forum there is no need to keep posting everything in all the other forums. Monitor the others, but try to keep your workload down.

I agree with Jim completely!!!
Save your spare cycles for coding....I mean spending time with the boys!!
I actively watch 3 forums. Now it's four...,but really only followed anything xlights related over at DLA. I'll shift most of my attention here.
Thanks for creating the new community here.

Welcome everyone!
Hey Sean, with the site, a wiki, a forum, and all of the other expenses-- where do we go to donate to the cause? (maybe a donate button on the wiki page?)
Also, would a Download button at the top help people find the software easier?

I agree... let's make this the SINGLE destination for Nutcracker. Not only does it make your life easier, it makes EVERYONE's life easier... I monitor 4 other sites now, and keeping up with the (sometimes redundant) discussions adds time to keeping up with the software.
Also, I wonder how much I miss by not monitoring the other bajillion sites. :)
Thanks for everything!!

Hi Sean,
This will be my goto place for XL and NC. +1 on you should spin your cycles here.
Tom

Question for everyone... If most message traffic DOES occur at this forum, how do we keep xLights and Nutcracker awareness high at the other forums? Lots of messages at your favorite site helps to draw people into the discussion.

Great site

there is a problem with one site is all you need.
does everyone who have LOR only post and get support from the LOR site?
LSP users only go to the LSP site?
I will continue to read the other forums and respond to questions, but this will be my primary hangout.
Do people even know about the other forums?
DIYC = HLS, Vixen, Renard
DIYC.org = Vixen+, Renard
ACL = LSP
DLA = DLA equipment
now there are LOR, Vixen people on all of those but it is my observation that the majority of posts follow the above. Probably as this year goes on I will spend time here and on www.falconchristmas.com. Thisis because i am extrensively using the falcon equipment and pi player. Is the falcon equipment better than san devices, j1sys? No!
Do I know the developer of falconchristmas and he lives 45 minutes away, Yes!
I will treat this forum as an evolution. i think by summer people will know this is the place to come to get the latest information on xlights and nutcracker.

Sean
this is going to be a very popular site, thanks again.
looks like it will have over 100 users on the first day

Thanks for the site Sean. Going to be nice to get what I need as I venture into XL/NC this year. Will be nice to find it all in one place!
-
Sean - Thanks for the site. I plan on learning a lot this coming year.

This is going to be a interesting site to watch and I am going to have to spend more time on the forums now as I am following a few now. Just glad I am not up to the numbers you are following yet Sean ;D

This makes perfect sense! Hopefully this will minimize some of the duplicity across all the forums - eventually. Like any "new" product, it will take some time for it to catch on. I can't imagine trying to follow 19 forums on a daily basis!

If Sean continued to post the headings for his announcements in all the forums, but in the body of each did a stock " For more information" link to the content at this site, it might draw more people here. At the very least it might increase the centralized discussion and make this site the main Nutcracker information depository.
Sean, I think that we all agree that you and your team should spend your time improving Nutcracker and having lives rather than posting the same information on 19 sites. Thanks again for a great product. :)
-
Sean or any other admin.
Just a suggestion but I would put a confirmation tool on this site to check people who register. This site is still new and free of spammers and other crap but it will not remain so for long.
Just a thought ;D
-
Great site Sean! One more that I have to follow! ;)
-
a test of posting by sean

Just awesome glad to be here! 8)

Hi Everyone. It is nice to have this site with the emphasis on xlights/nutcracker. Wow there are a lot of "newbies" at this site - LOL
-
Just wanted to say Hello. I am new to Nutcracker and haven't quite gotten it yet. I hope I don't ask too many stupid questions....
-
Hi Everyone!!
Excited to be experimenting with XLights/Nutcracker and appreciate the work of the XLights/Nutcracker team.
Is it too early to I ask for forgiveness and your patience with my stupid questions about to come :)
-
no stupid questions. ask anything, we are friendly.
3 admins for this forum
2010 .. matt brown wrote xlights as a scheduler
2011 ..
2013 .. sean wrote web based nutcracker to create rgb effects
2013 .. matt ported nutcracker from the web and added it as a tab inside of xlights, now 50x faster
dave pitts created pi player, falcon-16, Falcon-8, fpd, pixelnet=>5 dmx converter,
new firmware for Smart String Controllers, atx power board
2014 .. ??
all the admins believe in open sourcing everything we do. That means any of us could disappear but our products would continue.
