I have eight strings of led lights that are either blue or multicoloured that originally came with the multifunction controllers that you buy from Big W or Kmart etc. I cut off the controllers and have wired them up so they should work as single channel lights. I am running them from a LOR DC controller (CMB160-DC). I am using one of the DMX outputs from a J1-Sys ECG12s which runs to an AVD DC24 controller and then onto the LOR controller. In Xlights, I set each string up as a model that is single channel white ( i have all tried as blue, red or green). When I use the test function in xlights, I can get the strings to light up if I turn the sliders for "background colour" up under the RGB tab or under the standard tab if I slide up the background slider. However, when i put them into a static sequence I can't get them to light no matter what colour I set them to (white, red, green, blue etc). Now I obviously have them somehow setup wrong in layout tab in the model settings but I can't for the life of me work out how they should be setup in order for them to come on when i apply and on affect. I don't need them to dim or do anything fancy, I just need to them to come on during the static part of my display and go off during the musical part. Any advice welcome. Thanks

If you think your model settings might be wrong then you should probably show them to us. We can't guess what values you are putting on your dialog.

Thanks Gil. Here are the files

I don't know which model you are having a problem with. By the way in the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file is where your models are defined you have a few models with a dimming curve definition that has brightness set to 0.
-
oops, sorry about that. They are the models called native garden 1, native garden 2 etc. up to 8. I have checked the models for those which appear to have the dimming curves set to 100.
I didn't realise I had some set other models set to 0. I will have to look at those.

I would manually edit the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file to remove the dimming curve block from those models and see if they start working. I ran into an issue with the dimming curves not working for me and that was the only way to restore it back to normal.

Ok, thanks. I'll give that a try. Editing the xml file.... a bit scary for me :)
So I just delete this bit for each of the native garden models?
- <dimmingCurve>
<red brightness="100" gamma="" />
<green brightness="100" gamma="" />
<blue brightness="100" gamma="" />
</dimmingCurve>

Yep. If you open xLights and do F10 backup it will zip up a copy then exit xLights and make the changes. I'd use an editor that displays it nicely like Notepad++.

Great. Thanks

Just got around to doing this now. Removing the dimming curves worked a treat. Thanks.

So earlier when I saw you had brightness at zero for the dimming curves I thought it was a problem but I noticed my models now have the same thing so it appears zero is the default brightness and it goes either positive or negative from there.
