I imported a short sequence with not that many effects, it looks like all the effects are there but everything is white.
My mega tree is still AC channels, three different colors red, white and green. The models are set up for single color white or green or red, all the effects come over as white and it doesn't playback.
Did I do something wrong on the import?
-
White On effects will cause any color model to fire so that's not an issue. Did you render or save the sequence before trying to play it in preview?
-
I did save then played back again. No effects on the tree, including white on the tree. White doesn't not show up either. I have done the data layer import on a different sequence and all effects worked as they were suppose to.

If you provide the xlights_rgbeffects.xml and the sequence xml file someone may be able to look at it.
-
I tried importing another sequence, this time only some of the effects show up.
Arches are there and spiral effects are there, which show up as red which is correct. no other effects are there, I have a total of 144 channels in LOR.
When I did this sequence as a data layer all effects were showing up on playback

This is both of the sequences I have imported. The Sandstorm sequence is the one I imported with data layers and it played fine that way, as far as I can tell.

To import the effects you needed to create a mapping file. I'd say you don't have all the channels mapped.

not sure if you can open this or not
-
is there a way to get to the channel map without going through the import effects and importing the sequence again?
-
If there were I would sure like that as well, but I am only importing xml files, not LOR or other sequencers. Mostly just doing last years stuff and some shared sequences.
-
anybody see anything I should try?

I've never seen this not be a problem with mapping. You need to use the verbose output to check the channel assignments. Watch videos of someone doing an import of effects to see if you're not following a step. You even said you have effects that don't seem to render so there's just something your missing and its hard to guess what you're not doing.

I just went through the convert and looked at the conversion messages. I had some channels in LOR under a track marked future channels, with no networks defined. it mapped those channels showing 163 channels when I only have 144, I deleted those and told it to not map channels with no network.
I converted again and it shows 144 channels with no warnings. All channels look like they are matched up.
I imported again and I get the same thing. 6 arches, only 5 of them have effects, only a couple of models have effects
-
Are you mapping effects to the model, strand, or node level? If you map by strand there is a naming restriction that involves a "-P" with several variations that I know is in another thread around here somewhere. If they map to the node level you gotta drill down to the nodes to see the effects. Probably easiest to just create a mapping file with one thing that's not working and try to figure out what's wrong with that channel.

I used the arch model for my LOR arches so those are done on a node. The mega tree is done on strands, 3 strands per channel in LOR so each LOR channel is mapped to 3 different strands in XL.
In one sequence I have all six arches with data, a couple have some extra data and in another sequence only five of the six arches have data. This is part of what really confuses me.
Some single channel elements are mapped to the model
-
For the arches I'd look at how the channels are named in LOR and is it a consistent naming pattern for all arches.

I imported a sequence and loaded just my mega tree white model. I mapped some of those channels, and rendered and I get effects in the sequence. The model is setup as single channel white, the effects that came in are all white. I go to playback and nothing.
