Hi, I have 12 5 meters ws2812B in silicone tubes from Ray Wu's shop.
I was almost ready with my show but one string after one is going dead.
I notice if I cut the first 1-5 led/chip it working again for a random minutes/hours/day.
The strip is 5volt and driven by a quality pc power supply with high power. I have also add an zenerdiod over the power to protect voltage over 5,5 volt. I can't understand what is breaking all my chips.
I have take down all stripes and when I test the strings that i know worked they get destroid when connect the power or the connector from sandevices E682. I'm 100% sure that the strip is connected correct and with 5volt. I dot dare to connect my few working until I can understand why this is happened?
It will be a dark christmas:(
Any clue?

I will try to add 270ohm resistor in serie on the data pin with a diod. Cathode to 5 volt and anode to the data input. Hopefully this will protect any disturbance from the controller port.

Have run pixels two years now (Ray Wu 5V WS2811 strips in IP68 tubes); have not experienced similar failures. bought one set in 2013 and another set in 2014. Sorry can't help you here...

What's the oulrput voltage on the PS? Post a link to what you bought

Many thanks for the replys.
I think I found the problem, I had cable issue so I start unplug/connect the connectors to found where the cable was broken so each time when I did this I destroy one or several pixel on each stripe.
It was so frustrating, each time I try to test a new ledstripe it break down.
What I have learn today is. Never disconnect or connect the ledstripe when power is live, be sure to have correct cables that is proper connected from the beginning.
I have now repair all ledstripes with spareparts from a 5 meter ledstrip.
What type of cable are you using between the controller and stripe? I use cat5e cable for the data and separate thick speakercable for power.

I'm running 16 gauge paired wire for my power and 18 gauge separate wire for my Data. e682 controller and going 25 feet long. I am running ws2811 at 12 vcd tree 8 strands at 100 nodes. works out to 16 x 50. been fine with all the rain in the northeast here waiting for all the snow.

Not sure where I read it, here on the forum or maybe the FB group, but the E682 is not friendly to hot swapping of pixels as you found out. I looked through the manual thinking it was there but didn't find it. I might have missed it too?

Cat5 for data; 14 or 12 gauge for power. I use mostly 2811 or 2812. I've had no problems

Hi, are you using a twisted pair, groud + data?

I am using cat5e for data & power, including power injection. I figured since I bought a 1000' roll of the stuff might as well put it to use. I don't need all eight leads so I double up on everything. For the power injection, I quadruple... Kind of tedious to strip, solder, etc though.... I am using UTP cat5e from monoprice.
I am using E682s and I have plugging & unplugging my strips when powered up. I will stop doing that....

How much current can you take out from the POE adapter?
