I have begun from scratch with a completely fresh download of the latest version of XL. Hardwired to 2 new e682's thru a Trendnet switch. I have 1 string of pixels attached to the first 9 outputs of each controller. I have 14 universes set up in XL, with universes 1-7 and 8-15 set up on the 2 controllers. When I do a test of each string, the first 2 on each controller work correctly, but when I get to the third string, (output) is where things get whacky. The 3rd string of Pixels doesn't light at all, and as I go down the list, Pixels light up where they shoudn't, as if the channel start numbers aren't correct any more. When I do a test with all of the channels selected, all of the Pixels light up. Here is my current Setup, snips of the controller web pages, and a copy of the Excel spreadsheet I am using for this setup. Please give me some guidance..........

First off, one of the limiting things about the E682 is that each bank of 4 ports must have the same number of pixels.
Also, your first controller shows it as configured as ending at Universe 5, ch 48, yet your models are defined past that.

Not according to the e682 Users Manual.

What does that have to do with the 3rd string not working?

As a 3 year user of the E682 I can assure you each bank of 4 must be the same.
Each bank of 4 can be different from each other, but the members of each bank must be the same.
If you want the flexibility that you have modeled against, you need a Falcon F16 controller.
The way to interpret this line of the configuration is that you're using all 4 of of the first 4 outputs.
Each output has 89 pixels in use and each output is using 267 channels.
String #3 would start at channel #535 the way you have it configured.

Can someone please just tell me what numbers to put where.......... ;D

Am I asking to much here? My old brain doesn't want to wrap itself around this setup. Some concrete steps for the first few channels would be much appreciated.

I thought Steve gave you enough info to figure it out. If you have 89 per output on the first set then the start channel for a string will be 89 * (3 channels for RGB) * (string number-1) + 1.
So like Steve said string 3 start channel is 89*3*(3-1)+1=535...so your xlights model for string 3 should start at 535.
For string 2 its 89*3*(2-1)+1=268
For string 4 it's 89*3*(4-1)+1=802

Randy make another spreadsheet. Use the info that Gil and I have laid out to determine which channel each of the outputs will start on.
Then go back to your xLights models config and set them to start on each of the start channels to each of the 682 ports channels you've determined.
We will help you figure it out.

Here is a revision of the spreadsheet for my channel layout. Am I any closer?

Controller 2 string 3 is off by 1. Just add 204 to the previous number. Are you using Excel? Let it do the math for you.

Yeah, I think I fat fingered that one. Got it set up per the spreadsheet and it is all working fine now. Thanks!

I wanted to thank you guys for this thread. I've used the information you've hashed out to put together my own spreadsheet in order to figure out my 2 new E682 controllers. They haven't actually arrived yet, but I wanted to get ahead of this problem as soon as I could since I have seen it come up a lot in the various forums.
I posted my versions of the spreadsheet in a different forum since it doesn't really apply to xLights at this stage. I'm not sure if I can link to it here so I won't press my luck on this first posting. If your interested you can search for "check my work" or pm me.
Thanks again.
