Title: Well here we go again!...What Am I Missing!
Post by: dwbarnett on December 23, 2015, 03:54:46 PM
OK, this is really ticking me off right now!  After the setup from hell, I'm trying to add more than 3 songs to my show.

Working on CAn Can.

This is what I did to try and view the downloaded sequence.

1. Made a folder called can can working.
2. Copied his Can Can xml to that folder.
3. copied his rgbeffect.xml to the same folder
4. copied my networks xml same folder
5finally, copied the mp3 to my working folder.

Start xlights 4.2.25(yes, I know about 4.3. didn't want to make anymore changes this year)

My network shows fine. I then choose open file, and this xml file.

I then get the model mismatch screen popping up.  I'm using HIS rgbeffects.xml file. WHY am I getting this screen.

I did Logan's Star Wars the same way, in order to map my models to his layout as needed.

On this though, I don't understand why the  mismatch is popping up, WHAT am I missing?!!!

PLEASE HELP! Trying to get more  songs done. This will help determine the songs I can get done quicker.

This file is one donated on this forum in the Seq. share section.

Thank You
Best,
David

Maybe when you copied the rgb effects file it renamed it as a copy? close out of xlights. delete the file, then copy a new one in.

The only other reason this could be happening is if the donor didn't post the most current xml files. how many mismatches are you getting?

Hi, well I managed to get it to import. However, a lot of frapping issues.

I followed the step by step from Gil.
1. After opening Randy's xml, I went through the process of matching my elements to his.

All that worked well.  I then saved as a working xml and rendered.
The sequence played OK on my models.
I then used import to bring in a sup for my mega tree, originally a 16x50; and imported it for my tree of 24x150.
Saved/rendered.  Tree played fine as well as other elements.
I then imported my singing faces, from an LMS file. matched everything up, then saved the mapping.
I then imported that.

Everything seemed OK, all the elements were playing, however, I noticed on my singing faces, that sometimes other parts of the mouth sections were turning on, like a ghost image of sorts.

I deleted everything, redid all the steps, same issue.
Also, I have all my models added in my master view, half the time they don't show up at all.  At some point, I have also lost my megatree listing on the view dropdown, even though it shows fine in the grouping and checked on the grouping list.

I have  a backup of my RGBeffects. I'm going to delete the one I'm using, and try my backup. perhaps something got corrupted.

The other thing happening, as I match/delete Randy's models to mine, I'm only selecting my mini trees, roofline, and floods.

When I look at my sequence, there are some entries listed in my singing faces, I never matched or mapped them at all.  They seem to come in as a data layer, as I can't delete them. I don't know why it would put stuff on my faces.

I'm glad you folks have your show up and running, I'm trying really hard to do the same.  My setup was from hell, and now xlights has decided to kick my ass as well....great.

I'm trying to get this to work, as I have some more sequences I need to import in a similar way.

Oh yeah, the other thing that happened re the megatree, It seemed to have reset it's channels .

I had used individual start channels, but when I looked at the start and end channels, it had re-set itself to 1!

I have gone back and re-set my individual start channels again, still no megatree showing up.

Bad time of the year to ask for help, I know.   I have really tried to do a show this year, so far no go.
Very frustrating.  Especially, since I have to try and fix this using the forum, and not being able to talk to anyone.

At anyrate, glad others have their shows running.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Best,
Extremely frustrated David!

This is really pissing me off!

How am I supposed to create anything when my mega tree is using channels 1-20340!

That covers every element I have. Why is this happening!  I verified I have my individual starting addresses.

But it still shows starting channel1!!! What the heck is going on here?  Do I need to recreate my megatree model?  This is a backup RGBeffects.xml file.

What is the solution. Bout to give up this year!  I'll try another sequence, but if the mega is going to continue to use channel 1-20340, even though I have the strands utilizing individual start channels, WTH am I supposed to do to correct this issue!

2 things I have done are to use the export models as CSV option and then load that into excel.  Then sort it by start channel.  Another is to use notepad++ to open and read the rgbeffects file and look for anomalies.

Using the documented method I posted I have created a mapping file for Randy McMasters sequences and imported several of them that I owned the music to.  They work great.  I did not add other effects to them although I have thought about it for a couple of props I have that he does not.  Once I got the mapping file created I can go to other sequences from Randy and import them in minutes.

A great big thanks to Randy for sharing.
