Title: Could there be a door frame model?
Post by: msiebri on December 28, 2015, 07:37:16 PM
I have my front door outlined on the top and both sides.  I tried a window frame model, but you can't have 0 nodes on the bottom side.  Might there be a model for this someday?

What would be the purpose? I don't outline my door, but I do outline my front porch, which is a left vertical, an eave, and a right vertical. I'm able to do everything the window models can do.

It would just be 3 single lines and then you can group them.  Or you could make a custom model.  That would be a simple custom model, but I think 3 lines would be even simpler.

That's how I have it setup now, I guess I'll just leave it that way.

I have the same situation and found the Custom Model the way to go, and the easiest to sequence.  Hint, when you build your custom model, make it 2 nodes wider than the actual # of nodes on the top of the frame.  You will realize why when you are working on it.  I had to re-do mine a couple of times before I got the hang of it.

I just use a window frame model and "waste" a few channels for the nonexistent pixels.

I'd be curious as to why 2 nodes wider..my custom model uses the exact node count...if your way is better from a sequencing standpoint, I'd like to understand why so I can make the adjustment...thanks

I didn't mean that it would make sequencing any easier, sorry.  I meant that when you are filling in the little squares.  When I first laid mine out, I came up two pixels short at the end of the 3rd leg.  Here is a snip of mine.  My actual front door frame is 21 pixels high, by 9 wide.

Besides the excellent choices they give you above, you can pick the bottom to be 1 pixel and the other side to be 1 pixel shorter than the other vertical.  If you can live with the one odd ball on the screen, it lets you use window.

I happen to have a strip spliced into a window and the color order was different, so had to figure that out back in 3.x and just kept it that way.
