Title: P10 panels What's needed
Post by: babybear on January 10, 2016, 04:52:54 PM
Ok P10 panels.  What runs them. How do they work.  Where do I fine all the info?  Will Xlights run them?

Good starting point...

From what I've seen so far... easiest, simplest setup has been a Beagle Bone Black with an octoscroller running FPP.  You use xLights to sequence, but run it from FPP/BBB.

I just ordered a whole setup from diyledexpress during their pre-sale... 6 panels, BBB, connectors, power supply, etc.

controller is a Beagle Bone Black computer with an octoscroller board. This can drive 64 panels.
You run the FPP on the beagle bone.

You buy the panels for $11. The panels need to be mounted inside a waterproof box. I made mine out of 1x6 wood with a plexiglass fornt and a black coroplast back.

You need one 5v 350w power supply to run the lights (I had 2x4 panel display)

Thank you all. The link was just right on the money. It answered all my questions and then some.

Guess I'm a little disappointed in your response  I did do a search but after reading 50+ topics I had not found a basic understanding of the panels. I was not looking for anyone to explain them to me just a spot where I could read up on this.  Would no response have been better. I thought we were all here to help each other no matter what level of experience we were at.

You are correct, I shouldn't have replied at all.  I find it annoying when others do that.  I apologize.

We are all here to help each other.

+1 on the use of other forums.  There are many others, but each seems to have a different focus on hardware, software, building props, etc.  But I learn from all of them.

Anyone have a video of what the panels look like?   Can you just do basic graphics or are the LEDs close enough to play movies?
