Does anyone have or has anyone seen a model for the Boyosco ChromaHatMatrix?
Sandra saw it
Now I own it...
Now I have to put all the pixels in it
Now I have to wire it up
Now I have to program it ..
Sure is lopsided .... I have a whole lot more "Now I have to"s....

<Bump>
I saw a lot of interest in this prop and was hoping to rekindle interest in the model.
With the 2016.4 version I have found (and seen the video for) custom models.
I shot a dark room video of the prop, but I think I'm going to need to reshoot it so I can eliminate reflections and adjust the exposure to see the bulbs. The 2 flashes that it syncs on basically look like a giant blob.
I tried to manually add the pixels, but at one point while stepping through the frames the video seemed to lose the shot and when the light points reappeared it was 20 or 30 pixels away from where I left off. I thought that each frame was representing each light (at least that's the way the video started ... lasted about 35 pixels .. )
Is there a way to create a custom model manually with nodes? It seems I can only use the tool to create the model manually with a single color strand (?) .. .

2016.4 is a really old version...please upgrade.
Yes you can create a custom model manually in fact that's why we call it "custom". Click the "custom model" icon which looks like a face and then click and drag in the preview. It will look blank. Then click on the Model Data field and start typing in your numbers.
This video should help you out.

Thank you for the heads up...
I downloaded 2016.4 yesterday thinking it was the current stable release since all the others still showed to be BETA. I will grab the most current ..
I (of course) showed my ignorance. When referring to custom model I was referring to the new tool. Not having the grid (and just clicking on where the lights should be) is an awesome feature. Was hoping I was missing the opportunity to use it with nodes.
I did by the way manage to work with the settings enough to capture 322 of the 324 nodes in the completed model. However, I'm beginning to rethink the approach to this type of model...
If you look at it in parts its really 3 or 4 unique pieces (depending on how you approach the outline)
1. 8x21 horizontal matrix
2. 6x12 spinner
3. Outline of the hat (could be held red)
4. Outline of the matrix (could be held white) ..
perhaps creating the matrix as a matrix, the spinner as a spinner and the outlines as just single lines (not necessarily in the shape of a hat .. might be a more useful approach...
