Well folks I have just about finished my crazy layout for 2016. I am almost ready to place a mammoth order with Ray not to mention another order with David. I have already notified my attorney that an eminent divorce may be on the horizon. Not really. My wife loves this stuff! Below is my maddening layout. All will be RGB except the jumping deer and center star. If anyone knows where I can find leaping reindeer for my roof please let me know.
The matrix, spinners, arches and Mega Tree will be 2" spacing. Everything else 3". Big thanks to all who have helped me figure out some things. I'll call again soon!

Brand new! Is there a Rookie of the Year award or at least honorable mention for not causing bodily injuries.
Ray Wu will be putting a quote together for me when he can. I'm only ordering 7,700 pixels. '-)

Ron you are going to be in for a rude awakening when you start poking pixels, soldering, putting controllers together with wiring etc., unless you have full time to do this.LOL Good Luck however there is next year also and you will have fun.

Yeah last year early on I bought 5,440 pixels from Ray planning to build an 8' wide matrix. That plan never materialized because I switched to a P10 panel thinking it would be easier so now I've been finding other uses for all those spare pixels lying around.

Fire sale on those pixels Gil? Put me in for 1-2k of them. What's the cost to ship north of the border :)
Seriously though that is one heck of an investment of lights the OP has. If this is your first year take heed in the warning of water in the elements and don't rush anything. Get 2-3 people to help you mount it all on the house and factor in a full two weeks to setup outside. Spend the hot summer months working on your sequencing - I always leave mine to the week before December and I can truly say that more lights do not compensate for better sequencing. Lesson learned the hard way.
Anyways that said - definitely looking forward to seeing your videos once you are up and running!!!!

I had not considered P10 panels. I see a lot of interest. What are the basic pros and cons as well as cost difference out side of the time required to poke pixel into a matrix?

I had to laugh for a minute because I thought you were poking fun at my name, Ron Howard "OP". Then I realized, because I'm gifted that way, it meant Original Poster. At least that's my best guess.
I started sequencing my first song lost night - Curse of the Ice Queen. I had been practicing with Dance of the Fairy Plum Dub Step. I won't be able to listen to that song for the next 6 months! LOL
I'll be working on making my first Spinners as soon as possible. Clyde's Leechburg Lights Tutorials are fantastic! He is definitely inspirational. Kent has already talked me out of some common rookie mistakes and David has been very helpful on the controller side of life. I hope to build a good rapport with Ray to get the bulk of my lights. I will order 200 pixels from wherever I can get it shipped the fastest to start playing.

I don't really consider cost difference unless its something outrageous. I changed my plan once I saw a P10 panel at the Christmas Expo last year. The matrix I was going to build would have been like 8' wide and I wasn't sure exactly what type of structure I was going to need to build to hold it up in the air where it was going and it was going to take like 5 or 6 power supplies. The P10 panel I made is only 4.5 feet wide but it worked out great and although its a beast to get hoisted into place above the garage it's nice for other things like sitting on a table inside for a demo.

I am considering putting two PixNode nets together for 2400 pixel matrix. If a P10 matrix is easier then I could consider it. More to learn.

I don't know how you need to mount the matrix but a PixNode net will be flexible of course. If you need something stiffer I'd look at the Boscoyo matrix panels.

Haha, I'm new this year to the pixels and in planning on 4000 or less pixels, and it still feels a little scary with what I'm getting into, that's why I'm starting now with the sequencing and testing wiring configs. I'm going to be building 5 of the Johnson family style matrix's, and going to try those. Once I get all my pixels in going to build one as a prototype and see how it works in my window. I'm hoping my busting but now will make it not to crazy in December. I'm putting up all my ican lights still plus 180 new strands I got after Christmas last year, just in case the pixels blow up in my face. I hear some horror stories for the first pixel year. :-)

That many pixels is a serious commitment for the year, Whilst I only brought in 2k of new pixels last year my rebuild of display elements involved around 5k and I have 6/7 years of pixels under the belt and still it was a big job.
I think the forum name is spot on :) bravado :)

PS I did some cost comparison calculations in a couple threads last year for P10 v nodes and from memory around 2000 nodes plus it became cost effective to use P10's.
