Title: My First Sequence Ever
Post by: bravado67 on February 15, 2016, 06:37:45 PM
With a bit of dedication and some meticulous effort this is what I did. I have a few things to tweak before I try another song. Let me know what you think of the use of effects and musicality. I apologize for the hand held recording but I was too lazy to dig out my tripod and real camera. ;-)

Good stuff!!

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the sequences you put together.  Always interested in hearing how long did that take to put together? Note to self I do think next year I need big Coro stars or snow flakes on my roof so I can have them dance around.

drlucas, I worked on this for probably 30 hours over a week and a half. I created 3 timings. In that time I learned you can never Save too often,  F10 is your best friend and 1/4 sound speed playback can really speed up the process. Also, the Off effect is great at fixing mistakes when you apply a whole house effect and later want to remove that from a prop. This software is extreme user friendly.

I'm impressed. It is more "musical" than most of mine. I'm more of a hardware geek than an artist, though I occasionally surprise myself.

30 hours may seem like a lot, but you will get quicker with practice (and software improvements on the way)

Thanks JonB256! Two things:  I have been a drummer all my life so musicality is everything to me. At 45 I went back to college for a year in a certificate program for videography. My midlife crisis hit early and convinced me I should start a production company to make commercials for small business. Lesson learned! But I did take away great storytelling techniques by studying color relations and a lot of Alfred Hitchcock films. The funny think is I am partially colorblind. Go figure!!!! LOL

Very well done.  What song is that?  Think I would like to take a crack at that for Halloween.

Thank you very much. I opted out of investing time to learn LOR's Sequence Editor, SuperStar and Pixel Editor after seeing xLights. It allows tou to work in a much more efficient manner.

Looks great.    I really liked the varying spiral speed on the megatree toward the end.
Nicely done!

Thanks so much! I love experimenting with the layering. It's like cooking from scratch. ;-)

When you post here there is a button that has a picture of the earth with a sheet of paper on it and if you hover over it the words say "Insert Hyperlink".  Click that and it will insert the url tags you need and then just paste your link between the tags.

Awesome! It worked. I was overthinking it. That's the problem - you folks at xLights make things too simple. ;-)
