Title: Sneak peak video introducing buffer types...
Post by: dkulp on February 16, 2016, 01:13:53 PM

Created a sneak peak video to introduce some of the stuff I've been working on for the NEXT build of xLights.   While you are all playing with the VU Meter in 2016.8, we're already preparing some cool stuff for 2016.9.  :-)

It's a very smart way to add a massive new capability to the software Dan, and solves an issue with model proliferation just to get a different look.

Well done and many kudos!

Love this additional functionality.  Will be happy to get rid of some extra model copies.
Would like to see the Layer Matrix Buffer option on the Circles model now that it can do multiples like the Star.

The "Layer Matrix" format is the default for the Circles model.   It's not something that needs to be added.

While looking at these, that seems to be the main difference between the Circles and the Wreath models.    The Wreath's "Default" buffer style is the "Per Preview" kind of look (and of course only has a single circle).   The Circles model default style is the Layer Matrix.

Yeah I wasn't familiar with how Wreaths was done but I modeled the Circles like that to make it easier to have effects that radiated from the center outwards.  So each circle was like a row on a matrix.

Is the "Horizontal per model" based on the order of the elements in the model group or some other order?

Also, not sure if it's my eyes or my monitor, but I can't see the preview of the red elements (such as the pixel canes) when you are talking about them.  Minor thing, but wanted to share.

Thanks for all you do.

Wow I was just taking in all the improvements in 2016.8 ( Thanks very much for the mouse in waveform Gil ) when I came across this sneak peak.

This will make a huge improvement to how we sequence and open the door to some great effects.

Thank you Dan and all the developers for the work that all of you put into this fantastic software.

You read my mind!  Can't wait to try this out.  This will simplify model lists, and provide even more functionally. Awesome.

Thank you!
