When I use xlights to make models they do not pop up in the preview screen until after I make them a group. I have part of my display checked but nothing shows up after I click the ok on the model list screen. It only shows up after I make the one model a group ( by itself). All videos I have seen do not do it this way. Is there another box somewhere I need to check.? Getting fustrated
Also how do you delete models that do not show up in the preview screen. When they don't show up I try to make another one and use the same model name, it tells me that model exists, but don't know where it is. The models name will shoe up in the model list but no model. Comfused thanks in advance Dave
Hope this make sense

I think you've done this to yourself. By default all the models would show up. You must have checked a box beside a model group which filters the display. Click the Model Groups button and uncheck all the boxes and hit OK and see what you have.

Thanks that worked, I had added some groups before I was done adding models, maybe that had something to do with it. Thanks a lot,
Dave

You can test this yourself but I'm pretty sure adding a group doesn't automatically check that box. This happens all the time. Users click the boxes not knowing what they are doing and then wonder why models disappear. But we are changing the layout page functionality so pretty soon this shouldn't be a confusing issue anymore.

Thanks it was all me I clicked the boxes, my inability to follow good directions from the videos, thanks

There is an option to select the model group as well .
In my case all models are part of the 'All models group' which is also checked (it's a small window I think when u edit model groups).
So each model is part of my display (except the redefine duplicate ones) and all the model groups are also selected.

That's the options we've been talking about.

I was going to significantly update that section in the manual with examples - in fact have added a whole 50+ screens to the getting started section that Kevin has just tidied up .
Then I saw Dan's post so it will have to wait a bit.
