Title: Fire effect on Single Pixel
Post by: threesizes on March 22, 2016, 08:17:02 PM
I'm putting the Fire effect onto a single pixel elements (a set of window candles in this case). The problem is the single pixel ends up in the more yellowish part of the effect and I would like it to be in the more orange/reddish part. The flicker is good, just need to dial in the color. Hue Shift doesn't gets me into more blues.

Any suggestions?

Most people forget that you are in control of the colors that feed into the fire effect.  Why not just remove all the red?  Look at my fire effect at the 2:00 mark in this video.

The only thing I found that affects color is the hue shift and that shifts you from the reds into the greens or blues (in my mind shifting left to right in the spectrum). I want to shift from lighter yellows into the darker orange/reds (in my mind shifting up and down in the spectrum).

I was thinking about this and I might put in a 1-universe matrix with the fire effect on it and then have the candles configured with overlapping channels in the same universe. I can then place the candle pixels within the desired area of the fire effect by shifting its channel number.

Hue Shift doesn't gets me into more blues.

Guess I didn't know what you meant.  That statement sounded like you wanted to get into more blues.

Sorry about that, missing a word or two there. Should have read "hue shift doesn't do it, it gets me into more blues".

Using a hidden matrix solved the issue with the fire effect on the single pixels. Here's how it looks live on the candles (not the best video), the fire effect is first in the video.

Would explain "hidden matrix"

Thank-you,
Brian

I created a matrix in xLights 1 universe in size and the candles using the same universe. I assigned the candles about half way up (channel 250 or so). When I want to have the fire effect, I out the fire effect on the matrix and since the candle use the same channels the fire effect will flow down to the candles as well. Doing this allowed me to position the candle higher up in the fire effect as opposed to the bottom of the fire effect.

The matrix is hidden because it only exists in xLights for this purpose there is not an physical display element other than the candles.

What are the size parameters for the matrix?  I understand the overlay concept just want to get my channel 250 about the same place as yours within the matrix. Thanks.

For convenience I iust used 32x16, the same as a P10 matrix.
