Title: Multiple colored props
Post by: JMHaro on April 21, 2016, 03:50:54 PM
Hi, I'm just starting with XLights and wanting to convert my current LOR sequences over.  I'm working in building my props but have a starting question.

I have several items like large Arches and mini trees that are using regular lights (not RGB's) but I've got several colors on each item.  For instance the large arches have 8 segments of white and 8 segments of blue on each arch.  My mini trees are wrapped with white, blue, and red lights each controlled as separate channels.

What is the best way to build the props for these items in XLights?  I wasn't sure if I should build individual props for each color (channel) and overlay them on my layout or if there was some way to actually create multi colored props (controlling the different colors as separate channels).

Eventually I will be moving these items to RGB's but that may be down the road and just want to get everything setup for now with my existing display.

I am using xLights 4 (Ver 4.3.02).  I tried using one of the latest beta versions but in watching the existing tutorials I've been finding I couldn't even figure out how to start building the models on the later versions.  So I went back to this version which more matches the tutorial videos.

I appreciate any help that can be given to me.  I may have more questions later when I get more into the sequences but I want to at least get my models created first.

Thank you,
John

Scroll to the top. Next to home there's the Wiki page.

On the Wiki, there's a tutorials page and the one that will benefit you is called AC Tree Building and Effects by Steve Giron.

Thank you, I didn't know about the tutorials there so they will come in handy.  So it is separate modes for each different color, so I can work with that.  Thanks again,

John
