Title: 1 Model and 2 DMX Universes
Post by: bob_moodytx on August 16, 2014, 03:56:23 PM
Experimenting with XLights and have a question about importing a model from a LOR sequence.
I have a MERRY CHRISTMAS sign that is made from 20mm pixels with the letters laid out like a dot matric printer. Last year, in LOR, the sign was made using 2 universes. The MERRY letters were assigned to Universe  3 - channel 1 thru 240 and the CHRISTMAS letters were assigned to Universe 4 - channel 1 thru 417.

I've setup the universes (Univ 3 = 240 chan and Univ 4 =417 chan) and created the model but when I convert the LOR sequence it "seems" to be okay with MERRY but the CHRISTMAS doesn't map chan 100 thru 139. It almost acts like its confused with multiple universes even though the end points are defined.

Can anyone give me some insight as to what the issue might be? I can save off the config and the model if "eyes on" are needed.

Thanks for your help...

can you paste an image of your SETUP screen?
is channel 1 mapping to the first channel of universe 3? If no, you need to "fill in" channels before you define Universe 3.

hat are the actual channel numbers for these two universes in LOR?

Here is the setup screen.
The E1.31 setup is complete and accurate although in the LOR sequence  I am importing there are some LOR controlled elements that I have not yet defined in XLights if that presents a problem...

And here is the model of the Merry Christmas sign.
In LOR, the MERRY is defined as Univ 3, Chan 1 thru 240 (80 pixels), and CHRISTMAS is defined as Univ 4, Chan 1 thru 417 (139 pixels).

I guess what I am not understanding the hole created during conversion. The conversion process is telling me that "WARNING: channel 'MCS 101 (R)' is unmapped". This repeats for R,G,B for channel 101 thru 139.

There is a same occurrence on the pixel candy canes. WARNING: channel 'Candy Cane 81 (R)' is unmapped. This repeats on the candy canes from pixel channel 81 to 128 (this is Univ 2)

I'm thinking that when I answered Sean, I may have answered my own question(?)...
Not fully understanding the conversion and setup process I thought that DMX would map 1 to 1 by matching up the univ/chan.

I went back in and add the missing LOR controllers and told the conversion to map empty LMS channels and all the mapping errors went away. I still have a few issues .. the CHRISTMAS part of the sign seems to be 2 pixels (6 channels off). I'll recheck the model.

For LOR .. I used to run 10 controllers .. now I'm running controller #1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 9 (8 and 10 are not being used) ..I defined LOR 1st in the setup and set it to 160 channels (10 controllers). I'm not sure this is what is throwing off CHRISTMAS part of the sign or not.

DMX-DOC.pdf on the LOR site might give some help. LOR boxes are hardwired to dmx channels.

I am running the LOR boxes in LOR mode ...
These are older controllers and I'm not sure ver/firmware even supports DMX ..

The pdf file lists the models and vision supported.

Why are you not setting up the USB LOR protocol channels?

I think your setup might look like this
