Title: FPP Question to Output Audio to Test FM Transmitter
Post by: kentd on May 09, 2016, 02:34:56 PM
I got my EDM Transmitter today and wanted to test the audio from the Raspberry. My version is 1.8 and I put the music files in the Music Folder and Put some FSEQ files that I rendered using music in the sequence folder and tried to use the test sequence area to play a file with the audio using a SainSmart HIFI DAC Audio Sound Card Module I2S interface for Raspberry pi B+ 2 card with the output going to the input of the transmitter.

When I hit the play sequence nothing happened. I was hoping I would be able to hear the music on my car radio. What have I missed?
Thanks
Kent
BTW I input a CD from a CD Player to the EDM and it worked fine.

This would be better to post in the Falcon forum for the FPP.  I don't know if the test sequence function plays audio.  I usually just create a playlist then from the Status screen I pull up the playlist and manually select a sequence and then I know it plays the associated audio with that sequence.

Gil I did like you said, but no sound. I am thinking that there is not anything coming out of the sound card as I tried putting output into a stereo with no result.

Is there a configuration required for the card to work? I have put this post on the Falcon Site but was hoping someone here may know what needs to be done.
Thanks
Kent

I'm not understanding your setup.  Where does this card exist?  I just plug the output of the Pi's audio port directly into my EDM.

as gil said, you will get a quicker reply on the real FPP forum, http://falconchristmas.com/forum/index.php/board,8.0.html

the main developer of FPP, Capt Murdoch, has said he will not look at this facebook group. He said he is very busy answering questions on the official FPP forum.
There have been over 22,000 posts there over the last few years.

Just to update this post - I found the answers on the Falcon Site and with some help from Captain Murdock.

Just for information to anyone reading, the sound on the Raspberry needs to be changed and it is done using a script.

You can go to the post on Falcon Site for more information if needed.

Gil I did end up creating a play list and using that. BTW the range on the EDM is really great, drove around the neighborhood within a reasonable distance with good reception.

Thanks
Kent

I've always thought the sound from the Pi was crystal clear without any additional hardware.  Like I said I got directly into the EDM.  The antenna is probably more important.
