Title: Speed control in test
Post by: algerdes on May 25, 2016, 09:46:10 PM
I just loaded 2016.32.  Noticed that I could not control the speed when using twinkle under "standard" or "RGB" in test mode.
Also noticed that when I turn off "Output to lights" the lights remain on and don't go back to blank.

Is it my imagination, or did they go to off when unchecking "output to lights" before?

....edit.... I found that I can turn them "off" manually using the "Off" button at the top of each test page, then turn off the output to lights.  Just thought it did it before.  .... end of edit ....

I know unchecking the output to lights on the toolbar doesn't send an off command cause it's kinda bugged me when I expected it to shut off the lights I was testing.

Blanking depends on the controller. I have a few PixLite 4s. Those will blank the lights when I turn off the light bulb in xlights. My Falcon, will not, at least with it's current firmware (I think it's been added now). Typically, the controllers will remain on the last command. You have to issue a stop, then turn off the light bulb.

Well I don't see why we wouldn't just have the software send 0's out all the channels to cut the lights off when the light output is turned off.

2016.34 will include a change to the test tab which will force turn off all the lights when the output to lights checkbox is unchecked.

I hope it will just send it once. I turn of output when i want to stop all data. Do not want data to be sent all the time. If not i will have to close test screen.

Just the once.

I like to test using the main sequencer page. I had lights setup for a show a couple weeks ago and every time I wanted to stop and shutoff the lights I found it to be a pain.  I'd have to hook things up to figure it out again but I think you gotta hit stop and then hit the button to shutoff the lights and then hit the button to turn off output.  The other method I was doing is dropping an Off effect and selecting that and then turning off output to lights.  I really can't see why anyone would ever want the lights to just stay lit after they shutoff output.

Gil. I only changed the test tab. Not the sequencer.

I know that.  If you had fixed the sequencer tab I wouldn't be complaining how it works.  Just seeing if anyone agreed with me.

The new button, bottom left corner, seems to work.  Thank you.
