Title: unhandled unknown exception...build .39
Post by: amtrak115 on July 03, 2016, 04:21:08 PM
I was running .39, and things were going along fine.  Suddenly I get an unhandled exception.  uninstalled .39, reloaded it...same thing.  backed up to .38...same thing...backed up to .37  samething.

Attached is the exception image and the log file from the .37 attempt.  (I cleaned out all references to xlights and started fresh

If you go back to v37 you have to use a show directory that hasn't been run in any other higher version.

Sounds like a problem with your rgbeffects file but you didn't give it to us so I can only guess.

When I reverted back to .37, I copied all the xlights files from previous version to a USB stick and then removed it.  Reinstalled .37 as if it was on a fresh computer.  xlights never opens up.  It gets started and then the exception happens.  I sent all the files I could find.

ok more information.....

When I reverted back to .37, I had NOT pulled the usb stick.  tried it again with the USB stick removed and it started up by asking for a new show directory.

Using the backups in the "old" show directory that was not working I was able to back up to a working configuration.  The attached xlights files are the ones that fail with the exception.

Can you post the one that works so I can do a beyond compare to see differences?

Nevermind I fixed your file.  You typed space characters into some custom model cells and when we converted it to a number it was -1 which is not a good array index.  We'll have to put in extra protection to prevent the crash in case users type in weird stuff other than numbers.

that makes sense, since I was trying to work with a custom model when it happened.  I'm back up and running now

thanks  Gil

I have added some code in v40 that will strip these if they are these.
