Title: Matrix issues
Post by: Rob Baldwin 12 on July 03, 2016, 11:00:07 PM
Today I ran into a huge issue, it wasn't untill i looked at the crash report that i realized what the problem was.

I was applying effects to a group and had the layer settings render style set to single line. The last thing i was wanting to do after i had everything else done i applied a video file to the matrix. Well i plopped down the video effect, made it the length i needed (it ran for the entire sequence) and went over and clicked on the choose a file, selected the mp4 i wanted... and crash. I did this 4 or 5 times and couldn't figure out what was going on... i read the error and it dawned on me ... the matrix was still set for single line.

Im running .39

here is the excerpt from the crash report
Thread: 0x00002558    Rendering layer effect for frame 0 of Matrix, layer 0.CHECKBOX_Video_AspectRatio=0,CHOICE_BufferStyle=Single Line,CHOICE_Video_DurationTreatment=Normal,FILEPICKERCTRL_Video_Filename=C:\temp\frozen\frozentimedright.mpg,SLIDER_Video_Starttime=0,TEXTCTRL_Video_Starttime=0.000

as you can see bufferstyle-single line... is there a way of removing any other type of buffer style from the movie effect other than default or atleast ones that wont cause crashes?

The buffer style is a model attribute so i am not sure we can remove it. That being said we could detect it and refuse to render ... Maybe render a different colour and log something. That would at least stop the crash.

In v40 video will render as red if you try to put it on a matrix in single line mode. It wont crash.

Thanks Keith... Now to remember if its a red line that means to check to make sure its default setting.

That's what the manual is for.
