New manual posted on releases page
http://nutcracker123.com/nutcracker/releases/xLights_User_Manual_2016_38.pdf (http://nutcracker123.com/nutcracker/releases/xLights_User_Manual_2016_38.pdf)
Kevin Pankratz wrote: "Here is the link for the latest manual that Gerry has added and expanded content. With this release, the manual covers up to xLights 38. I’ve gone through and added links from the TOC as before. There are now return links included in the headers so people can return to the chapter TOC that they are currently reading. The xLights graphic on each TOC will return the users to the main TOC at the beginning of the document.
We are now up to 205 pages!"
Great job gentleman!

I love the "xLights" in binary on Page 2. Awesome!

Kevin... someone finally found the Easter Egg in the manual!!
I'm surprised nobody has found the Easter Egg in the app... just all the goose eggs so far.
-
Sorry guys. Didn't know we were supposed to report it. :o
-
I don't know about one in the code either. I looked at Steve checkins to see if he snuck something in there. There only thing close was when he created a key binding that made me laugh: "F" for "Off"
-
Now that is funny when you present it that way.
"f" was already taken for FIRE
and "o" was taken for On
"F" made sense to me at the time.
Your comment made me look at my keybindings file and wow.. I have some good ones in there!
I used 1-9 for all kinds of stuff I had long forgot about.

Well, at least this is the first time someone has actually mentioned it. Time to think of new ones to hide. We may need to make a game of it. First person to comment wins free updates for a year! ;D

Come one, you all can at least match LightShow Pro (LSP) - they offered free updates for two years when I bought in the July 2014 Fire Sale. I have gotten all zero updates for free since then and I'm only out $300. :-[

There were a few is us in that boat.
But actually that was such a blessing in disguise. Would not have had to look elsewhere and turn to xlights if there had been updates I guess. May have still been struggling along..
Money well lost .. :)

Completely agree. I switched to Nutcracker/xL in Nov of 2014 (ver 3.12 or 3.16 if I remember correct).

Always goto the Wiki link to find the latest links to releases and documents.

404 Error : File not found
If you need the latest manual release (38) before the link is fixed, send me a message, and I can provide you with a link to the dropbox file that I send to Sean for publication release.
-
link to ver 38 document fixed.
-
I'm still getting a 404 error. I would like a link, if possible.
Thanks

It works for me but here is direct link

The link on the release page is the same that Sean posted, and they both work for me too. The Wiki link points to the 31 version still.
-
Thanks,
That one worked.

Thanks
for the very good work

Thank you so much!

I would like to make a simple request to the writers of the User Manual:
It would be really nice to have the revision number listed inside the file so its identifiable on hard copy. Maybe just a line on the title page or ideally a footer on each page with revision and page number.
And also a big Thank You just for making the User Manual in the first place! :D

We can definitely add that back in, and probably should. The PDF you download is named according to the version of xLights that it covers. Not sure if anyone knows or has even noticed, but in the installation section for the Macintosh, I always replace the image showing the version number we are covering in the manual too.
Gerry is working hard currently adding/correcting content for the next release. After that, we're porting the manual back over to Office from Google. We'll gain a true TOC and start adding code for a index (little by little). I want to get page numbers back into the manual again too.

We should buy a RoboHelp license then we could link people directly to online help sections.
