I am getting an error message when opening xLights, Unable to load network file. Then I press (OK) and the next error message is XML parsing error:unclosed token at line 2976. Then when xLights open up my network settings are blank. I have tried a number of different options including reinstalling xLights, Copied the network file from a backup that I had before this issues and still getting the same error. How can I resolve this and get my network settings back?

For me network settings are pretty easy to create so I would just recreate them, but then I use all E1.31 at 512 channels per and just tell it to create 111 universes. Bam, all done.
-
If its really the networks file then yeah just delete it and re-allocate your universes next time you start. I'd like to see the xlights_networks.xml and xlights_rgbeffects.xml files in the directory giving you trouble.

Here are the files.

Those files don't give me any errors.

I clicked the save key on the network settings to see it it would stop the error message popping up. That stopped the error message and looks like it cleared the error problem to. If it ever happens again I'll save the file with a different name. I have entered all of my network settings back. Thanks for looking in to this.

I lost all of my network settings again. I am getting the same error message. This time I save the files with the issues. I also attched the printscreen. I hope the issue shows up this time. Thanks.

Or maybe that's something on the Test panel. Can you tell me what you were doing?
-
Ok I found in the code where that "testpreset" is created when you hit Save on the Test Dialog. Only theory I have at the moment is maybe you hit Save when an autosave was in progress.

I forgot that there is an autosave now. I am hitting save because the save button is in Red.

I think you're talking about a different save button. We have at least 4...lol.

I looked at the code for this last night and I am stumped for how it can end up in this state.
Are you able to reproduce the problem? If so can you describe the steps that were involved.
I would like to get to the bottom of it.

I'll try to reproduce the issue. Yesterday was the first time that I had this issue with all of my network settings dropping/deleting when I was setting up the testing tool to test some lights. It happened twice yesterday, I hope it will do it again today.

Do you have anything going to cloud storage when it saves?

The folders are on an external NAS hard drive.

I tried to duplicate the issue again but I could not get the issue of the network settings drop/delete to reoccur. I'll try again after work. Thanks for your help.

In v41 I have added logging around the test preset saving. Once you take v41 if the error recurs please send us your logs.
If you do manager to reproduce it reliably before then please let us know.
