Title: XL/NC can't find music file error message
Post by: danj on August 29, 2014, 03:49:48 PM
I am getting the following error message when trying to play the sequence in preview:
"Cannot locate media file: c:\users\dj\documents\nutcracker-xlights\carol_of_the_bells_david_foster.mp3
make sure your media files are in the same directory as your sequences"

I checked and my xseq files are in this same directory.

What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance.

Update: I changed the file from one that was not an mp3 to one that is an mp3 file and XL/NC is now happy; I am now able to preview, set effects, etc..  Does XL/NC "care" about the music format (e.g. wmv/mp3/etc)?

the issue is your music files MUST be in your show directory. we do not allow them to be any other place. If you have a music directory or such you must copy them into your show directory.

Thanks Sean.  The original music file was in the same directory as the xseq file.  I got the error message with the windows media file (which actually had an mp3 suffix) then once I found a "true" mp3 file of the song everything was good.  So I concluded that maybe XL/NC is looking for mp3 files??
