Before, when drawing my rooflines, I used several single strands, then grouped them together, to make 1 roofline section.
Is the PolyLine tool doing essentially the same thing? Using .43, tried drawing a roofline with the PL, when I got to my finish point, I couldn't terminate the drawing of the polylines. Tried double-clicking, rt clicking...it just continued to draw the polylines.
I tried to Ctrl Z to back out of the drawing, all Ctrl Z did was delete my initial selection of my background image. Had to exit out of XL and not save to get back to my layout. Can someone give me an overview of what I'm missing? Or am I misunderstanding the purpose of this tool? No problem, I can always revert back to my group stuff. Just thought this method would be faster.
Thanks,
David

David, I fought the same thing yesterday. The Escape key terminates the string drawing.
Once drawn, you can name the string, then give it the total length and then segment lengths.

Thanks JonB

Running .51 and have same problem, can't get poly line to stop placing more line locations. ESC does not work.
????

Then your ESC key is broken. What OS are you on?

Escape key is fine!!!
Was placing start point on left and placing more points toward right. Did this several times with same result, only way to stop it was to shut down xlights.
Read in another post, that I accidently came across, that there is a problem with "green" and "blue" points with the green needing to be on the right.
Tried polyline again by starting on the right and going left, which then allowed stopped point placement with the ESC button.
Once that was triggered one time, I can now place points in any direction and ESC works as advertised.
Hopefully this may help.

Actually the green needs to be on the left but that is for Single Line models and really only applies to how effects will work in a group vs just the model. Where you started the line has nothing to do with the ESC key working and the fact that now you say it works in all directions says there was something else causing a problem. If you can reproduce it make a video.
