Having lots of fun with the (fairly) new "State" effect. Really going to allow me to cut down on the number of models needed to do fun things with part of a display item. Here's a couple videos of how I used "State" effect with the double-clanker coro bell. Next project is the chroma singing bulb.
Example

Quick Guide on how I did it

...on to doing the same thing for the chroma bulb (outline and screw bottom)....

There will be another option coming soon also.

Cool. I figured when I shared my real world example with Keith last night that it might trigger some thoughts. Glad to hear there are already plans in the works for this more complex models like double-clanker bells and chroma singing bulbs. Thanks to you and all the developers!

Not sure what you and Keith shared but I was referring to a preliminary checkin from Dan for the ability to create sub-models. Just like you click a button to create faces or states there will be another field for sub-models. You create a named sub-model like "bell-left" and "bell-right" and tell it what node ranges to use for each. Then those become objects you can sequence when you expand the model on the grid.

Sounds great! Thank you!!

Could this be used to design singing faces on a matrix, as in HLS.
(pixels are allocated per phoneme and then each phoneme is used for the word breakdown,
ie you have a design for A, E I O U etc) then import each deisgn as needed)
or at least nominate the pixels to be used for phonemes or eye movements as per string faces
(can we do this in the 'state' setup eg mouth open could be nodes 55,56,57,58,59,60,70,80,etc to finish, can we add individual nodes as you would list pages when printing individual pages ie, 1,3-4,7,11 etc)

The faces effect can already do that if you use the xLights timing tracks to breakdown the phrases/words/phonemes. Each phoneme is given a range (and optional color) that is turned on when encountered.
With the sub-models, you can create sub-models for the various mouth positions (upper lip, mid lip, etc...) which each contain the appropriate node ranges. That will then allow importing of purchased "Face" sequences that use the normal 7/8 channel definitions. You would map the "Upper Lip" from the purchased sequence to the "Upper Lip" sub model .

We've had that ability for close to a year. I created this video when it was first added. I believe I demonstrate the use of images for a matrix because we provide a few different options. Instead of the images for a matrix you can do like Dan stated and specify node ranges for each phoneme.

Gil, my apologies. My intent was to show additional functionality with the State effect not rehash other effects...and now with today's version .46 release with sub-models, even my sharing of State is probably moot...onward and upward

No problem Mark my reply was more intended for the side discussion that started and not really related to the State effect you were talking about.
