Hey All,
I see where version 2016.46 took the text down from 4 to 1 line. But in the notes there's a reference to using masks to, I presume, have multiple lines of text?
Could someone clue me in how that works? I'm lost.....
-
Not masks, but layers. Add a layer for each line of text. Works great.
-
The mask note was in reference to Text imported from Superstar.

Thanks for the clarification...on the mask.
I opened an old sequence that had text in 2 places in the sequence...
On the first one my 2 layers of text lines showed up...but they don't work like they used to.
In the past the 2 lines (both set at the same speed) ran around my MT together....now the lower line outruns the upper one....I'm assuming due to the difference in the circumference of the upper and lower lines.....they used to run at the same rate and stay together.....
On a second place one of my lines no longer works at all.....even though it was there in 2016.45....
Update: I had to switch to "Normal" and both are now there on this second one....but the lower line still outruns the upper line..
Any thoughts?

With every else being equal the one with more characters will travel faster because it has to traverse the model 1 time in the duration of the effect. So 2 ways to adjust speed. 1) Change the number of characters 2) Change the length of the effect.
These two lines will travel at the exact same speed.
"This line is longer"
" Short Line "

Thanks Gil.....the spaces might do the trick I'll give it a whirl.... It's no big deal on new sequences. The only thing is now I'll have to go back through all my old sequences and make manual adjustments.....
-
Yeah I didn't really think about that after effect. I guess I could have had the conversion code insert the spaces for you.

Wouldn't they travel the same speed if they had the same number of characters?

Understood. I used to work in a design center where I did a lot of work with design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA's). We would have meetings of the design engineers to try to foresee problems and failure modes.... It was amazing how often some things that were never foreseen or things seeming unlikely became the biggest problems when we went to do validation tests....like a snake in the grass they would bite you on the ankles...... :)
