Title: Remove Effects from data Layer
Post by: deplanche on September 09, 2016, 08:43:34 PM
I am trying to remove or change some effects on an old sequence that I brought in from a Vixen 2.X file a year or two ago.  I can't remember which version of Xlights I was using at the time, or how exactly I brought the file in.  I am pretty sure it wasn't an import thought.

Anyway, I can see the colors for the effect on the sequencer tab for the models.  But those are just colors, they are not effects.  I can right click on the node for the model and convert it to an effect.  But rather than doing that for all my old imported information, I am wondering if there is just a way to delete that.  Now that the import allows for the saving of the mapping, I can always just bring in the few old things I still want that way.

Thanks,

Jon

Delete the Data Layer you created from the Sequence Settings dialog.

That is what I thought I needed to do, but the only layer in there is a nutcracker layer with no channels.  It also won't let me delete that layer.

Here are the files if that helps.

Do you have Render Mode set to "Erase Mode"?  Have you deleted the associated .fseq file and then opened the sequence?

Render mode is set to erase.

I deleted the fseq file and reopened the file.  When I open nothing shows up, on those models, but as soon as I save or render, they come back.

Well the data is not just magically showing up.  It's coming from an effect you have somewhere else.  You probably have overlapping channels.  Use the Sequence Checker.

I think I found my problem.  I had some unassigned models that I forgot about being in there that had the effects on them. With all the new features, I didn't see where the old models that weren't part of my display where hiding.  Loving all of the new features as I am finding them!  Great work!!
