HI since this is first, I'm offering up my 12 string x 25pix 2D tree
THis is a old school and i'm sure there are better , but my effect is this,
CHristmas Tree with Lights

open 3 layers for effect
1st=Top layer is Twinkle : Number of lights = 7  ,Twinkle steps =68, Re-randomize box is ticked
2nd =Middle layer is Twinkle: Number of lights = 18  ,Twinkle steps =68, Re-randomize box is ticked
Pick your colours for the lights and update
3rd layer =bottom ON function: Pck your own "greeness" colour , Start and End intensity are same at 58, transparency is O and cycle count is 1.0, shimmer is off
