I was trying to get a Morph effect on a group of models and noticed that Effect Assist wasn't doing anything. After scratching my head on the issue, I realized that If I expanded the group of single line models, Effect Assist worked on individual models--not groups of them.
Is there a way to use the Effects Assist on groups? For example, if I want to go a morph along the different models that makes up my roof line? Or is there some workaround?

Why don't you take a short video of this not working. Last time I checked, this worked.

I just tried the effect assist on a group of mini trees with the morph effect. I'm on the latest version and it works fine.
Make sure you are zoomed in enough to see the "handles". Using multiple monitors really makes things easier, compared to using a laptop.

Ah yes, the Effect Assist window was all white, but when I sized it bigger, the turquoise box with the little handles appeared. Thank you!
P.S. While I do have a somewhat "ghetto" laptop to do my sequencing , I do have the "luxury" of an extra monitor for my house preview, and a few other less frequently used tool windows.

The problem is most model groups default to 400x400 and the effect assist isn't designed to be able to zoom. If you have the window too small the matrix grid will disappear. Drag the window bigger to make it show up. It was originally designed for my 12x50 ribbon tree matrix.
