Title: RPi Hat Nutcracker Setup
Post by: bwinter on October 22, 2016, 12:14:35 AM
For lights to be controlled by a Raspberry Pi HAT (configured in FPP as Channel Output Type Other: RPIWS281x), what is the correct Setup/Lighting Network option to use in Nutcracker (i.e. USB, E1.31, Null, ArtNET)?

Everything seems straight-forward when using a controller such as AlphaPix-16 (set up as an E1.31).

It is easiest to just use Null.

Thanks.

Follow-up/related questions:  is the Setup tab in lights *only* needed if you plan to run your show through xlights, or doing direct testing of your lights through xlights?

If you're using xlights only for sequencing (and running your show in FPP), then the Setup tab is irrelevant (as all channel numbers are assigned in the Layout tab)?

I think you need to have channels defined in setup to get them to save to the fseq file but that may have changed over the past year.

you need channels defined in setup so we know how big to make the fseq file. if u use the null model you wont be driving lights from xlights. usb,e1.31,renard .etc. controllers in setup allow us to get the fseq size AND allow the lights to be driven from xlights
