Title: DElayed Ray Wu shipment??
Post by: BobinWV on September 18, 2014, 02:45:49 PM
Ordered some material from Ray a week ago.  My delivery was initially scheduled for Wed the 17th then slipped to the 18th and now the latest info from FedEx is the 24th!!
Anyone heard of shipping problems from China?

All the time. They take a lot of holidays.

On another forum I saw that apparently all shipments are being held up for detailed scrutiny.

Bad time of year to order anyway. I hope you get your stuff before Christmas season.

This time it seems to be the Chinese Govt cracking down on shippers and shipments.  I also have a package that was picked up by DHL last monday and I've been looking forward to getting my new props built.

I figured it was more apple throwing their weight around and bumping all other deliveries. People need their new iPhones in time for Christmas.

sorry for that, i did ship out 。
my dhl forwarder said there is a sudden very strict inspection in the board between HK and shenzhen (China mainland),and my DHL forwarder use HK DHL, once the inspection has been approved, the dhl website will update the tracking number information.
i have explained this matter to many customers these 3 days, this is a Emergency situations for us.

Unfortunately for me, I just decided to setup a display at a second location (an apartment) and I am JUST NOW trying to order stuff from Ray.  Will be interesting to see how the timing works out.

Anyone have any good luck the last week or two? I've been staring at a FedEx order the last week that hasn't moved and it has a tracking number :(

I got my shipping notice from Ray on 9/15, received my package on 9/24.  So a few extra days over what I have experienced in the past.  I'm thinking of ordering a few more flexstrips since I have some cash and I would not be worried about delivery as long as he has product available to ship and I don't have to wait for manufacturing.  This would be for stuff I could skip or just add to the display mid season and not stuff that I must have to start my show.

I have $1100.00 worth of stuff from Ray that has yet to be delivered. But, it's like that every time. At the last minute, he always comes through. Go figure?

I got an email 4 days ago from Ray indicating that he would be shipping tomorrow and as of yet nothing. Just curious, my orders are usually between 500 and 1100 dollars. How about everybody else? What's the dollar amount of your typical order?

Mine are usually in the 400 - 500 range.  I just nibble away at making changes to my display and never have made large changes.  Probably the largest change for me was when I first went from static to animated 8 years ago.

I will order much earlier next year.  I ordered in this year's LSH group buy (mid-July timeframe) and our stuff is packaged and will probably be shipped in the next few days.    I would have liked to have the stuff already....   It is edging ever closer to Thanksgiving night!!  My 2014 display is dependent on getting this stuff!!  It is my megatree.

I just ordered some more flexstrips from Ray.  He says they are in stock so will see how long it takes.  Just paid yesterday.   I'll be suprised if they ship before Monday or Tuesday next week.

Paid for flexstips on the 9th,  Scheduled for delivery today the 14th.  Cannot complain about this timing.  Was only 4 flexstrips on this order.

That's great!! Glad he's caught up. I hope you aren't trying to align the new strips with ones from previous years. You'll see the alignment of the strips have changed a bit. The design is way better where you can cut the strips now too. A great improvement.

I certainly know about the alignment problem. I ordered some additional strips from Ray to expand my Mega Grid and the ones I received this year absolutely did NOT line up with the ones from last year. That was a big disappointment. Guess I'll line my house or build drip tubes next year. LOL

That's good to know.  This is my second order of strips this year.  Fortunately I have a habit of always ordering extra lights when I buy them so I also have a couple of unused ones from last year so I guess I better check that I am using the correct ones when I repair my pixel tree.  Now if Ryan would just start a thread on repairing strips so the rest of us can learn his tricks and tips.  I have 7 half strips with a pixel or two out on each of them.  I think I have 4 older unused ones, but will have to check.

That's not from the time I first contacted Ray about this order, but from the time that I paid for the order until I received the package.  I had that happen last year as well on one order.  I think it was about 14 days from the time that I asked for a price quote until I actually received the order in hand and paid as soon as I received the quote.  Caveat - I never order big quanties or dollars in a single order and I never get custom spacing or anything else non-standard.  I think my biggest order ever was just over $600 and I seem to have ordered at least twice a year for the last 3 years.

Many. Many. Many lessons learned the last 6 months on this one. Fortunately one I learned last year was order early!!! I think this year Apple buggered up shipping, but I've heard others claim different and was tied to tighter import/export controls.

That aside yes, I think I do need to start a thread for what I learned. One of the biggest learning parts and worth sharing here is Ray is busy, but very honest. Keep on him and ask for him to give a date when he will ship out. If he misses the date get him to give you a new date. I have had 5 day turn around some times in the past with Ray, but doesn't happen often. I'm not going to look at my paypal history to see how much I've spent the last two years...and I'm going to change my paypal password so my wife can't look either :)
