Title: Single Strand Start/Polyline
Post by: bwinter on November 13, 2016, 04:37:56 PM
I'm having a very simple problem, and think I"m just overlooking something.

I have a simple two-segment poly-line over the eve/peak of my garage.  Xlights has labelled Strand 1 as the left eve (sloping upwards towards the peak) and Strand 2 as the right eve (sloping down from peak).  STARTING LOCATION (location of the 1st node) is set to RIGHT (as my controller is on the right side):  my 1st 25 nodes are on right side (Strand 2) and 2nd 25 nodes are on left side (Strand 1).

It seems a little odd that Strand 2 is actually the first set of nodes (closest to controller).

However, when I have a basic ON for each segment individually, the two segments appears swapped between my rendered sequence, versus how it plays in my test strand:  Strand 1 is RED (left side, furthest from controller) is RED in Xlights, but plays back as WHITE in my test-strand.  Likewise, Strand 2 is also reversed.

I have the same configuration on the right side of my house (similar peak), but since the controller is set to LEFT, everything is fine.

Any thoughts what I'm missing?

PolyLine model is broken for controller set to right side.  I tried to fix it several weeks ago and ran into problems.  Its not an easy fix so might not get done this year.

I seemed to have similar problems when I started working with single-lines (before switching to poly).  Do you know if single-lines have the same problem, or are they okay?

Looking back (and switching to single-line), I think my issue was that I wasn't paying attention to where the BLUE/GREEN dots were.  If I put BLUE at the start position, GREEN at the end, everything seems fine.

For single lines I always recommend to not put the blue dot on the left because you will find that the model reacts differently when its in a group versus by itself.  For Single Line model put the green dot on the left and then change controller position to right.  That model should work fine.
