Title: Can I make this any harder on myself???
Post by: lightjunkie on November 28, 2016, 11:01:16 AM
Not really a bug...more like User error.

So, awhile back, my models went missing......not the good looking ones like Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson....the ones that I use for my light show.

Well, I found that my Open GL needed to be forced to "1" because of my OS and video card.....and everything came back.

Fast forward to yesterday, opened up XLiights.......only one model appeared. (?????). Tried switching Open GL's back and forth to toggle a reaction.....nothing. Restart, cold start....nothing.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Check one of your backup files (xlights_rgbeffects.xml).

I pulled up one of my October files and replaced.........same thing....just the one model.

On the layout tab, will they show up if you select view all models?

OK....I went into my system back up. I found one from October and replaced the current file with that one......it's all there and now works fine ..... it's all there! Go Figure! I went through all my Xlights (in the Xlights folder) back ups and they are all corrupted! All of them only have one model dating back six months. Pretty strange, but all seems to be well now with the system BU file.

I kept a copy of Xlights 3 on my system (for my old files). Could that have done something? Just throwing out ideas! :)

Thanks!

It's not unheard of for the files to get corrupted, but I think it's rare. One, it could have happened by something you accidentally did. Two, it could have happened on a specific release that had issues. Those are just two guesses.
