So far I have 4 songs sequenced and almost done with my 5th. Its a little hard to see some of the models as the tree in the yard. It blocked the 2 candles and Bruno the brown nose reindeer on the garage. Some of the spinner is also blocked. Yesterday I found out what we are doing. A short story
A gentleman stopped the other day and asked where I bought the display. I chuckled and answered everything here is hand made. He then went on to say the day before he sat and watched the show over and over for about 20 minutes. He continued to say the last few years he has lost some family and with them his Christmas spirit. With a smile he adds that watching the display has brought back his feeling for Christmas. With that he said thank you. If all the effort I put in helped one person out of a slump even for a few hours or days then I feel it was worth it.

Late last night I got an e-mail from a local TV station asking to stop by tonight to film my lights. I'm excited.

Be careful, too much publicity leads to unforeseen problems like traffic that requires someone to be outside directing it. I have two friends that have that problem. It can also point out your location to vandals and thiefs. Just saying.

Are you saying I should mention the fact that I have 8 cameras watching the front yard. Also I do not have any power supplies or controllers outside. Between the rain, snow, and the cold, I just don't trust those parts to the elements. There is a housing track about 5 blocks from me that the traffic is so bad it takes almost an hour to go through.....

Carry your piece on your hip during the interview....lol.

The film crew was here last night. They were here for about 45 minutes. I made the 11:00 and morning news. they were comparing me to a static over crowded setup. I think it went quite well Thanks to all for your help.

Might as well get posting on this forum as well, and this is a great topic to shout out on.
Very nice post Bear. The awesome fact that right off the bat you are helping special people find that comfort spot that lights up the memory engrams of special events from the past. We - ( my wife and I ) have been doing our home display since 2006 where we started out with 48 channels of LOR. Today I have over 11,000 control points in the show - take three points per pixel and you do the math.
We judge the success of our show by the giggles and laughter. The memories you are helping to create are immeasurable. The couple that got engaged while watching our show in 2006 (he proposed across the street to the song of Polar Express) now bring their kids by every year. Buy that warm fuzzy on Amazon - ya can't do it...
We saw the crowds so huge that the neighbors just gave up trying to find parking on the street after we went live with the dancing snowman that was live on the morning show locally and MSNBC's opening web page for 8 ours on my birthday 6 years ago.
But what was even more fun was being in the crowd in Sherman Oaks Califiornia durring the taping of "Christmas Light Fight" at Mike Ziemkowski's house in October two years ago - and watching him win $50K. That was a blast!
The real estate guy thought we were nuts when we told him the house we were looking to buy had to have special features that were conducive for a great light show. We found such a place and this is our third Christmas in that home with the huge yard and awesome street frontage. He now understands.
Keep up the awesome work folks - the memories you build and help people remember a time when life was warm and fuzzy for them individually are priceless events. The hugs and cookies are just a side dressing to the warm thank you's and the occasional teary eyed grandpa.
This is a Great Community of fun people!
Your all special......
Blessings to you all..

Lowell, First welcome to the Xlights family, your story is great and I understand it oh so well. with the TV coverage I received the last 2 days my traffic was a nice flow last night. It did create one issue , the wife...... After watching it on tv she wants the Grinch off the roof and my blue LED tree up there and some strip lighting wrapped around the lamp post. The only good part the receiver board near it has 2 openings, so that easy.
